Re: Exfoliation- aspirin tablets

i've seen that video a while ago, and many others like it. i'm willing to give it a try but i'd like to hear reviews here from people who've done it.

regular neutrogena one. i use the face wash let it sit for 5-10 mins n then wash it off. do it 2-3 times a week if u hav no acne prob as it can be really drying n causes flakiness.it slowly exfoliates ur skin. Once a week use a soft brush/wash cloth to remove remaining dead skin cells.

Re: Exfoliation- aspirin tablets

I use asprin 3 times a week, works great for me ! :)

Ohh that's an interesting tip... letting your facewash sit. So you don't use a seperate exfoliater?

Re: Exfoliation- aspirin tablets

MKD.............be careful with the aspirin mask.

I had read about it on the web. Some people use 4-5 aspirin pills........some use MORE than that. In the beginning I used about 4-5 pills......let then dissolve in about 1-2 teaspoons of yogurt. Applied it to my skin, let it dry, washed it off. It left my skin feeling smooth....and gave it a glow. Then.....I tried adding a few more pills to combat some stubborn acne. I felt like I couldn't breathe..........my breathing had slowed........I felt light-headed........and dizzy. Later on, I read that these symptoms are among the side effects of aspirin.

It's a mask that shouldn't be used more than 1-2 times a month......and be careful with the number of pills. You may not feel anything at first.....but later on, possibly, it might make you feel sick. Another common side effect of applying an aspirin mask is that it makes you sneeze. It is, after all, a drug. The reason why it "exfoliates" is because it contains salicilyic acid. It's used for exfoliation and reducing redness/or inflammation from acne.

Re: Exfoliation- aspirin tablets

Oh thanks for ur input Redvelvet. After reading that I dont think i'm ever going to try this out.

You can try it out MKD, just don't use it frequently and be careful with how many pills you use (4 should be fine). It does make your face smooth and glowing. I know that a beauty expert even mentioned this mask on the Nadia Khan Show.

There are other ways to exfoliate your skin. Some people use more natural ways to exfoliate such as sugar.....salt.........ground almonds mixed in besan. Yogurt and milk and fruit juices naturally contain AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids), which help exfoliate your skin.

Re: Exfoliation- aspirin tablets

I’ll try it out sometime then thanks :hugz:

it gives good exfoliation i feel.

I have to agree with RedVelvet's assessment, except that I would suggest that you avoid the Aspirin Mask altogether. I tried the mask (as directed) a few times a suffered massive headaches in each and every instance. In addition, my skin darkened (temporarily) afterwards. OTC Salicylic Acid treatments really aren't that expensive so please refrain from jury-rigging your own Aspirin-laced versions; it's just not worth it.

Just dragging up this thread from a few months ago.

I watched this video by Michelle Phan

I really wanted to try this out but now I’m not so sure after reading RV’s and Roxx’s posts. Has anyone tried this and not had adverse effects? If I do end up trying it out I wouldn’t use more than 2/3 tablets and I’d probably use it once a week.

Re: Exfoliation- aspirin tablets

Thanks you for the post.
Hi guys, Im a newbie. Nice to join this forum.

Re: Exfoliation- aspirin tablets

Ive tried the aspirin mask.

I liked it the first few times I tried it but then noticed something very odd...my hair felt considerably thinner and lighter. It was a noticeable difference which is why it caught my attention.

I discontinued it and my hair was back to normal after 4 days or so.
