Exfoliate my face...

Hey all as u know i am doing microderma… i need exfoliate my face every week so i was wondering what are the best exfoliating cleansers i can use for my skin ? I have mix of oily and dry skin…but after my first treatment…and since yesterday i have very dry and flaky skin around my mouth and chin area.

i am using all the products she asked me to use.

Re: Exfoliate my face...

first of all moisturize.

the dry flaky skin is likely to be dead skin peeling away.

if you are doing microderma ...then you dont need to exfoliate til your treatment is over.

I use nutrogenas daily exfoliating cleanser. works best for me.

Re: Exfoliate my face...

best she asked me to exfoliate ...... cuz its really gona help ...

but i thought over exfoliating strips away your skins natural moisture? :hmmm:

First of all ever microderm session needs a gap of 10-15 days inbetween and once a week is too much!

Micro-derm is a form of superficial exfoliation and if u exfoliate/scrub anymore inbetween u will ruin u're skin by scratching the surface of it and give urself perm scarring!

Re: Exfoliate my face...

thanks gina

but what should i do with flaky skin....i am using Yonka Cream that she recommended me ....

should i go back to her...

i dont know why he was strongly suggesting me to use some kind of scrabs once a week in between the treatments..... she was like the more u gona exfoliate the better result u'll get

I suggest u find another therapist.. microderms can't be done once a week.. nor shud u scrub inbetween treatments.. NEVER! U will end-up with a scratched skin surface and scars..

if u're skin's flaky (it usually is after a session) apply a high factor spf sunscreen and a moisturising cream.. with jojoba, almond oil.. oatmeal or honey.

Re: Exfoliate my face...

oppss sorry when i wrote once a week ... i meant 10 days apart...

Re: Exfoliate my face...

there are two which i have found to be the best:
1. st ives apricot scrub
2. burt bees' bark scrub

The scrub's shay mentioned are great, however u're not supposed to scrub inbetween micro-derm sessions at all and no harsh chemical facewashes or any alcohol based astringents either. Micro derm is a form of exfoliant.. usually done with crystal oxide powder.. please don't scrub u're face.

I had 2 microderma sessions done 5 days apart and my skin was hell! When I called the thearpist to inquire about it....all she could tell me was to keep the skin moisturized and she wanted me to come in for more! total rip off....

I had red marks all around my cheeks...and it took more than a week to go way...but atleast Alhumdolillah they did...

I was getting them done to get rid of some freckles that I have...but I didnt see much difference after 2 treatments..

5 days apart? omg! U need to give u're skin a gap of atleast 10-12 days.. this also means not using any retin A or bleaching creams and JUST sunblock and a moisturiser.

It's bound to aggravate u're skin and cause a reaction if u buff u're skin too often u'll cause tiny scratches that cud be perm scars.

Re: Exfoliate my face...

thanks so much Gina.... oh btw i was thinking abt bleaching too ....

hey i am using mosturiser but after like 30 min my skin is all flaky again....
can i keep on using it through out the day .....

the product she is recommending me are extremly expensive :( after spending $700 i cant spend $200 just on cleansers/toner and creams

currently i am using Normaderm Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care
do i need to switch to something else..... please do recommend some good product that are affordable too

No please don't bleach.. don't thread 2 days before and 2 days after u're treatment either.. u do NOT want to damage u're skin. The only after-care that u need is a high factor spf sunblock I keep repeating the same one Sun Sense spf 60+ it's designed for people that have had treatments done. Also, use a good quality moisturising cream.. I like and recommend Vitamin E face cream by The Body Shop.
