Exercise Your Right to Vote- It is Your Civic Duty

On this Election Eve, I just wanted to remind you all that if you can vote please do so…IT IS YOUR RIGHT! and every vote really does count.

Don’t let the long lines intimidate you…take a magazine/book, your iPod, a friend, a chair…ANYTHING! but DO NOT get out of line or give up waiting.

Parking may be an issue at your polling place…take metro, take a cab, have a friend take you etc…but DO vote no matter what.

It does not matter who you are voting for (ok fine it does)…just go out and vote!

Re: Exercise Your Right to Vote- It is Your Civic Duty

I am planning to go vote tomorrow. I will leave work a little early and vote in the evening and hopefully by that time the long lines would have died. I thought about going in the morning but everyone will be in the line tomorrow morning to be part of this historic event. I will let them go first.

Re: Exercise Your Right to Vote- It is Your Civic Duty

^ lines will be long in the evening to I am sure.

I dont know about the weather over there but here in VA....it will be raining mid-afternoon til late evening. So Washingtonians...be sure to take an umbrella.

i love the election coverage that follows !!! :khumar:

Re: Exercise Your Right to Vote- It is Your Civic Duty

^ I know…keeps me on the edge of my seat.

I am really feeling some anxiety this election though :bummer:

Isn't VA one of the states where both candidates are trying to win? I am thinking the long lines will be in VA, FL, and PA etc. that have more electoral votes to offer. Even during the early days of voting in FL, the wait was 5+ hours. I seriously doubt we'll face similar situation here because there are just too many polling places and there are a lot of Hispanics in my neighborhood, and I don't think they are all US Citizens. So I think it won't be that bad. I'll be sure to reply here tomorrow to share how it went :D

I believe the polls are showing Obama leading in VA which is surprising....va is a republican state for the most part. It's been that way since 1946.

Re: Exercise Your Right to Vote- It is Your Civic Duty

A lot of things will happen that never happened before. Also, just read the news that Obama's grandmother passed away. I wonder if that will have any effect on the election and I wonder whether Obama will be absent from the spot light.

Re: Exercise Your Right to Vote- It is Your Civic Duty

VOTE. please.

yup,VA is one of those 50 states where both candidates are trying to win :chai:

polls opened here in va @ 6am. My mom went at 5:45am thinking she’ll beat the lines. The lines were out the door and into the parking lot! I went at 9am…there were no lines and no one in front of me :smooth:

I think the lines will be long again during the lunch hr and in the evening.
