Exercise recommendation for a heart patient ...

So some one I know is a heart patient , they cant do heavy duty exercise but need to keep their body moving to keep health intact …

Walking isnt really helping much , they are still gaining weight … what type of exercises do you recommend?

Re: Exercise recommendation for a heart patient ...

Talk to their doctor , weight gain can be controlled by portion management and other diet control measures.

Re: Exercise recommendation for a heart patient ...

what is preventing them from doing heavy duty exercise CB? is it mobility issues?

Re: Exercise recommendation for a heart patient ...

1) If they're recovering from a serious heart condition, they need to meet with a nutritionist AND a rehab specialist who can help them come up with a routine.

2) Regardless of how much exercise they do....they will continue to gain weight if their diet is not drastically changed.

** On a side note....a few years ago my dad started having really high blood pressure (he was overweight too at that time). He finally realized that he needs to get healthy. Since then....he changed his diet drastically....and started walking. My parents both walk together 2 miles every...single...day. They have a treadmill in the house for super hot or super cold weather. Just by walking/dieting religiously....my dad managed to lose almost 40 pounds.

I would say walking is probably a good start.

Nothing heavy just a regular morning and evening stroll and maybe a stroll between meals. Also try to make it a scenic route and keep some friendly company. Often when your with friends talking as you walk it helps a lot and you get much further. Namaz is also a great way to excercise.

Re: Exercise recommendation for a heart patient ...

My father is a heart patient and since he has been diagnosed he has changed his diet completely...eats healthy all the time mashallah...

he has like porridge for breakfast, a healthy chicken (boiled) salad wrap for lunch with lots of fruit...and then in the evening just a healthy dinner...my mum steams loads of vegetables and he usually eats those with grilled chicken or grilled fish...and sometimes will have 1 roti and a little bit of salan..

the biggest thing he has started to do is walk...he walks for at least 30-40 mins everyday mashallah..and its like a power walk..and up hills and stuff...he has lost so much weight within 9-12 months that some ppl r shocked when they see him..get this..hes slimmer than my hubby now! lol and wears clothes which fit my younger brother :)

So best thing is walk, cut down on portions and eat healthy :)
