one of the main reason why i dont like going to the gym..
I can't wear what the rest of the people are wearing and i just feel out of place..and get too many stares.
i would like to know as well what some of my fellow muslim sisters wear to the gym??

Are there any women only gyms in your area? Then you can wear whatever you like there! I dont know any hijab wearing girls who attend co-ed gyms, they all go to female only gyms and then wear t-shirts or tank tops or track pants or shorts to the knees etc just regular workout clothes. You dont have to wear itby bity spandex things like they do in those aerobis videos, just wear whatever you are comfortable to work out in. But you have to be careful coz in some places the cleaning guys or delivery guys might sometimes pop in! But if you tell the person at the front desk they will usually make sure to keep all men out when they know you are in a certain area. Best bet is to talk with other hijabi girls in your area and find out which place is best
yes i stay assured about my clothing and shoes...its the vital part of a workout..atleast i believe so..and yeah i dont put any makeup on while doing workout..i have seen aunties doing aerobics and having fully blushed pinky cheeks with a thick layer of ivory foundation and lots of lipsticks as if they wont get it the next time as well as the poor eye-shadows all thoppay huwaye on their brows.. ..and dropping perspirations..yuckkkkkkk..this might be off the topic but at least u r not supposed to put any makeup on else it clogs ur pores...

woho thank god i havent seen anyone yet wearing make-up and working out lol that must really luk funnie :D.
Most times. I do what I can. Sometimes I try different things just to see how would it feel and whether it would provide any extra motivation. Wearing jeans or light pajamas during weight-training days only is kind of getting an outing of its own. Cardio days are met with lighter clothes alongwith deodorant, body spray, mouthwash and brush/paste. It is necessary to take care of your body since it produces so much out of you.
I also take workout gloves with me since i dont like touching the machines with sweat of people... (although thats very rare, since people clean machine after they use it..but i still prefer using gloves, not just cuz of that but it gives me this extra grip)..
I have rarely seen anyone doing cardio with their gloves on. Are you able to push yourself a bit more due to gloves as oppose to doing it without?
You might not even have to clean the machine afterwards since all the sweat is absorbed inside.
I used to go to a mixed gym and I wore loose track pants, a workout t-shirt… (you know either the one with short sleeves or sleeveless) and I wore a really loose workout jacket… Got that one from the mens section and wore a cotton scarf (those long ones not the triangle one… I find the triangle scarfs bothersome) … hope that helps.
Maybe some are wearing makeup coz they're coming in from work during their lunch hour or after work or in between classes.....
they can take the make-up off and apply again if needed :D...dont tell me they wont be taking a shower/bath after excercising? so wts the use of keeping the make-up on lol.
the only purpose that I see for wearing gloves during cardio is to protect yourself from germs as FF mentioned…other then that it really serves no purpose because you dont grip the cardio machines…at least not the treadmill, bike etc.
however…i wear gloves for weight lifting and I highly recommend it to everyone because it really gives you a better grip, it’s more comfortable, and protects your hands from abrasions.
sadi79…those Amira scarves (the two piece one) seems very comfortable during workouts for a hijabi…ive seen many hijabis wearing those when they workout including some of my buddies…it doesnt get in the way and stays put.

really? I've never seen older women wearing those. Maybe the girls just wear them to the gym...regardless it looks more comfortable while working out.

I meant in this part of the world, Middle East, and here you can tell a person's ethnic background by the type of hijab they wear. I know its odd. Mostly jordanian, egyptian, syrian women wear these types of hijab. My mom wears this type of hijab too, but her's is not a two piece, but a one piece.
