A friend pointed out to me that whenever the TTP claims an attack Pakistanis in general make a 1001 excuses for them and then decide that we should have talks with them. On the other hand we have the BLA, which like the TTP uses extreme and barbaric methods to gain power yet the view of the general Pakistani population is that there should be no talks and just a military operation. Why is there this soft corner for the TTP and not for the BLA? Why do the TTP have so many defenders and apologists? I could not help noticing quite a bit of truth in what this person had said.
Re: Excuses for TTP yet condemnation for the BLA?
This is why you should do your own research and never get influenced by what the people gossip about.
Re: Excuses for TTP yet condemnation for the BLA?
It's the media I suppose. I barely hear the word 'BLA' in news.
Re: Excuses for TTP yet condemnation for the BLA?
and what did your friend had to say about it? why does PTI do this?
i don't think they do that. PTI condemns all sorts of terrorism. Saying that drones empower TTP is not wrong, for every TTP guy killed, a drone creates two more. and as far as i know, TTP supports negotiation with everyone, BLA included, not just TTP
Re: Excuses for TTP yet condemnation for the BLA?
I think the soft corner for TTP is due to our policies since 79, for two decades mujahideen were the good guys. In 2001 when the war began, they became villains hence confusing a large proportion of the population who either became supporters or apologists. These apologists and sympathisers are present in the security forces as well. There are no Baloch in the armed forces hence easier for them to market what ever they want to the people. This is exactly the reason why Baloch are resisting. For majority of Pakistanis Baloch militants (having killed far lesser people) are bigger villains as compared to TTP.

Its because BLA are confined to Balochistan, while the TTP are eveywhere...

well said and spot on
i will add that generation that is running pakistan now has been raised on zia syllabubs which was based on hatred, conservatism, so called Renaissance of islam, pan Islamism, anti india, and anti west material...this generaion is now in its mid 40s and is everywhere..Academia, politicians, establishment, businessmen etc
also anyone and i say anyone who is anti American is a hero in pakistan..hence TTP being the hero no matter what they do

I believe it is part of confusion on people who think that it is same set of people who want to bomb BLA as the one who have excuses for TTP. Apologist behavior is well explained by Ali Syed above, but we can't claim that it is the same people who provide excuses for TTP behavior are exact same people who want to bomb BLA. I for one want negotiations with both as they both arise because of one problem or the other.

exactly, media and many others are rather appologists of BLA, some people even claim that BLA does not exist at all.
Re: Excuses for TTP yet condemnation for the BLA?
For media and other secularists, violence by non-religious forces is somehow acceptable. MQM and BLA are living examples.
Re: Excuses for TTP yet condemnation for the BLA?
Contradictions in the right/left wing ideologies, one supports dialog with BLA/BRA and the other with TTP? If one can reconcile with TTP who have killed thousands what stops from talking to the Baloch (who have genuine complaints)? I have already mentioned before, will be repeating again. I don't see Baloch militants damaging Pakistan as such, the forces which can destroy the country are those with whom the majority sympathizes (and supports dialog with them). These are the people who have carried out indiscriminate attacks in markets, mosques, GHQ, Kamra, PNS Naval base etc. These people attacked Srilankan team and isolated Pakistan from the global sports arena, these are the people who have attacked foreigners in Gilgit to scare away the small number of foreigners who were still coming here. These are the people who are trying to push the country into a sectarian civil war, whose results can be very dangerous considering Pakistan's precarious economy.
Re: Excuses for TTP yet condemnation for the BLA?
TTP have left no doubts in regards to their dangerous objectives. They are willing to cross all lines for the sake of achieving their evil agenda. Thousands of innocents inside Pakistan have fallen victim to their atrocities. No one is spared from their attacks, including: women, children and elderly. Anyone who thinks that they do not pose a serious risk to the nations’ safety is mistaken. They have repeatedly issued threats against the government of Pakistan, and see our nations as a common threat to their evil mission. Sadly, it has become common to read that the TTP were involved in an act of terror. We’ve lost thousands of brave soldiers on both sides of the border in countering insurgency. Our sacrifices prove our stance against terrorism. Our governments have the responsibility of safeguarding our lands, and we will continue to work together and target those who pose a risk to the safety of our nations. We urge everyone to separate facts from fiction and see who continues to kill innocents without remorse. We’ve come too far and made too many sacrifices to let conspiracy theories deter us from working together against our common enemies.

If majority of Pakistani people are Taliban sympathizers then who helped America invade Afghanistan?
It means minority have hijacked the opinion of Majority.
