I’ve been following JayandMark Duplass for a long time now – from their early, hilarious shorts, to meetingJay in the back of a seedy barin Brooklyn during a tour of The Puffy Chair, to all their various festival appearances with Baghead, and now to their first studio film, Cyrus](Cyrus (2010) - Movie | Moviefone), starring John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill, Marisa Tomei and Catherine Keener. Yes, I have a personal connection to these guys (they sort of came up as filmmakers as I was trying to make a name for myself in the world of movie blogging), and I wouldn’t have followed them so closely if a) they weren’t two extremely awesome and friendly dudes, and b) I didn’t think their brand of low-budget, relatable humor didn’t represent the next evolutionary stage of big-screen comedy.

As Judd Apatow and his band of merry misfits continue to kinda entertain us with their foul-mouthed, male dominated movies, Jay and Mark Duplass are quietly transforming the genre with films like *Cyrus *- a studio product that contains a Hollywood hook, but delivers it minus all those giant, stupid set pieces while still managing to keep it hilarious, heartwarming, and, most of all, fun. Due in theaters on July 9th, *Cyrus *follows the trials and tribulations of a recently divorced guy (Reilly) who meets the girl of his dreams (Tomei), but soon learns that she has an adult son (Hill) … and he’s weird, to say the least.

The Duplass boys recently screened *Cyrus *at SXSW, and Fox Searchlight has provided *Cinematical *with an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at what that experience was like for them. Watch it after the jump, along with the film’s trailer. For more on Cyrus, visit the official website, read our review from Sundance, watch our Sundance interview with Jay and Mark Duplass, and also check out our SXSW interview with Jonah Hill.

(And then go see *Cyrus *on July 9th!)
