Ex-policeman caught for assisting hit men

This is one pathetically lame and highly unprofessional reporting from Dawn (more appropriately nicknamed Yawn), and I am not surprised. In every paragraph they are mentioning a ‘political party’ yet they won’t name it? What kind of journalism is that? What kind of bloody woeful teasing is that?

This is an incredibly serious piece of development and a really dangerous situation on the ground. The political party that uses policemen to attack law enforcing institutions is not a political party, but a criminal network. People have every right to know the name of the political party because they may have given them the vote (definitely not for killing people)! The party is still part of the electoral process, so once again, the readers have every right to know this significant information so their votes don’t go to that criminal organisation again. It’s basic common sense, rules and ethics of journalism you gonzos. You are insulting your readers by deliberately withholding that information.

And this is not the first time they’d done this, Dawn newspaper certainly has a soft corner for MQM. It almost appears like an MQM leaning newspaper at times with their glaringly partial reporting on anything associated with MQM. Maybe they should quit reporting on serious news, and just focus on churning out slot filling blogs on Bhuttos and Aman ki Asha rubbish. No one can beat Dawn when it comes to writing cheese-filled, cringe inducing, repetitive gobbledygook on such topics. Yet the website has maybe one or two forced and mundane news updates under each provinces’ heading.

Re: Ex-policeman caught for assisting hit men

Let me laugh on the thread
read & listen only ARY
ARY is not good for you at whole
Better only see the sold out Mubashar Luqman only
He will be giving your required news items

Re: Ex-policeman caught for assisting hit men

^ Don’t bother spamming here.

What’s Mubashar Luqman got to this with the topic of this thread? But for your information, he’s neither a journalist nor a very professional host. His problem is that he says way too much and Dawn’s issue is that don’t say enough.

The newspaper goes as far as saying that ‘political party is a key player in provincial government’, yet they won’t name the party. This is absolutely dishonest and highly unprofessional ‘news reporting’, what makes it worse is that this not the first time they’d done this. Dawn website looks more like freelance blog-fest with overseas bloggers churning melodramatic and highly opinionated pieces on same old topics and themes, than an efficient news website. Like I said, each province’s gets one or two news update everyday which is seriously bad considering Express Tribute offers at least a whole page of updates for all provinces - at least 12-13 varied news reports everyday for each individual province.

Re: Ex-policeman caught for assisting hit men

^ don’t feed trolling.

As for newspapers not printing criminals affiliations with “a political” party it has more do with that party being more of a mafia than a political party.

Re: Ex-policeman caught for assisting hit men

I am not criticizing the ’ Dawn’ , believed to be the best neutral source since decades
So Mubashar is the best available source for some minds to keep them happy

Re: Ex-policeman caught for assisting hit men

^ so you are saying its okay to hide name of the party? support the status quo :k:

Re: Ex-policeman caught for assisting hit men

Media houses have their own policy
If issue is MQM
All were doing this since three decades due to some fears
Now the bosses have changed the policy
But ‘Dawn’ is not Imran Khan to start as ordered

Re: Ex-policeman caught for assisting hit men

Electronic media which is at bigger risk and had been a clear victim of MQM’s thuggery and violence in the past has started to loosen up the chains of fear and openly mention MQM when necessary. But if print media - especially websites like Dawn - continue to impose self censorship then they lose the right to be called a trustworthy news outlet. Such examples only prove the point that print media has serious credibility issues in Pakistan and why its readership is on speedy decline. They simply cannot compete with electronic media’s ‘see it as it happened’ approach,Talk Shows and the whole breaking news culture.

Dawn is one agenda heavy ‘newspaper’. Maybe instead of recycling yawn inducing columns and blogs on handful of boring topics and themes, they need to hire proper journalist staff to report real news from every part of Pakistan with minimum editorial tempering.

Re: Ex-policeman caught for assisting hit men

It is also duty of ‘Dawn’ to expose dirty life of Imran Khan , His ties with establishment and his dirty politics . His charity looting should must be exposed by ‘Dawn’ .

Re: Ex-policeman caught for assisting hit men

Uncle give it a rest. This topic has nothing to do with Imran Khan. This topic is about media failing to do its job properly & perhaps b/c of fear of retribution from MQM.

Re: Ex-policeman caught for assisting hit men

OK Boss
Let them do their new task
Going behind MQM
Having secret ties with MQM for last many years
Now PTI should be allowed to go unchained
OK boss

Re: Ex-policeman caught for assisting hit men

In print media, one gets a general impression that somehow editors think opinionated columns can replace news reports. These days you see way more commentary on news than factual reporting of news on websites like Dawn.

I don’t need to read 15 different columns/blogs a day by 10 different columnists to know my news or make my mind up. Time is precious so standard matter of fact news reports providing all accurate and necessary information is enough for me to know what’s happening and what’s wrong and what’s right.
