Ex-ISI officer Colonel Imam and British Journalist Asad Qureshi freed

I hope that Colonel Imam will shortly be giving his perspective on his kidnappers and the murder of Khalid Khawaja.

If not, then I’m sure that Asad Qureshi, as a journalist with an exclusive inside scoop on this story, will soon be releasing a tell-all into the activities and nature of TTP and its front group Asian Tigers.

What’s interesting is why would they kill Khawaja but release Colonel Imam and the Brit unharmed?

Former ISI official Colonel Imam and a British journalist of Pakistani origin Asad Qureshi were released on Thursday in North Waziristan by a militant group calling itself the Asian Tigers.

The group belongs is believed to be operating in North Waziristan and kidnapped the two on March 26, 2010. Among the people abducted was former ISI official Khalid Khwaja, who was recently killed by the group.

Khwaja’s body was found near a stream in Karam Kot, about seven kilometres south of North Waziristan’s main town of Mirali.

Locals said they had seen Khwaja’s body, but did not pick it up for fear of attacks from the militants.

A senior official said a jirga of residents and clerics deputed by the local administration finally retrieved Khwaja’s body.

Officials said Khwaja’s body was taken to Islamabad and handed over to his family. A note was found with his body which said that Khwaja was working for the Americans and anybody working for them would meet the same fate. — DawnNews

Re: Ex-ISI officer Colonel Imam and British Journalist Asad Qureshi freed

Col.Imam actually fought with Talibans of Afghanistan and know them from 30+ years.even Mulla Omer respect him alot. They pressurized Punjabi Talibans to release him. Moreover, Col.Imam , thouh one can disagree with his approach and POWs , is a simple supporter of Talibans but Khwaja was a tripple agent of ISI-CIA and TTP etc and as a result nobody used to trust him even in past

Re: Ex-ISI officer Colonel Imam and British Journalist Asad Qureshi freed

This is probably result of intense pressure from Afghani Taliban on tribal Taliban, otherwise i dont beleive this group would have spared any of them.

I doubt col. Imam or Asad will talk much in public after their release. Wil probably only get some info leaked from their interrogation by authorities.

Re: Ex-ISI officer Colonel Imam and British Journalist Asad Qureshi freed

I doubt Col Imam will release any "breaking news" type info about Taliban activities, however we might get news of how "sweet" those guys were to him etc.

As an established documentary-maker.... I don't see why Asad Qureshi will not release a tell-all about his captivity. I look forward to it!

Wow... you almost make it sound as if Colonel Imam is not an ISI agent!
