Ex-ISI chief submits statement on bribing of politicians

**I hope CJ will give a decision penalising all who gave and who took bribe. I don’t know which other country’s army is so mcuh involved in politics as compared to Pakistan. BB won that elections even after this badmaashi by politicians who took money from army. agar un ko zara barar sharam hay to chilloo bhar paani men ja kar dhoob maren aor kabhi Pakistani politics men hissa na len. Ek aurat ke khilaf yeh sub heejrhay akhthay howay thay. India had lion heart PM Indra Ganhi, Pakistan had Benazir Bhutto unfortunately both were killed by heejrhas so called mard.

**ISLAMABAD, July 26: Former director general of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt-Gen (retd) Asad Durrani said in the Supreme Court on Thursday that he would provide in a sealed cover the names of officials involved in the clandestine operation of bribing politicians in the 1990s.

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry is hearing a petition filed in 1996 by Tehrik-i-Istiqlal chief Air Marshal Asghar Khan requesting the court to look into allegations that the ISI had financed a number of politicians in the 1990 elections by dishing out Rs140 million to create the now defunct Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI) and prevent Benazir Bhutto’s PPP from winning the polls. The petition was based on an affidavit of Gen Durrani. At the last hearing on July 16, the court had asked Gen Durrani to place on record a concise statement, supporting evidence or affidavits explaining details about the persons who had been allegedly provided certain amounts under the directions of then army chief Gen (retd) Aslam Beg and the names of people who had been given the amount after receiving it from Ajlal Haider Zaidi who was heading a team in the presidency set up by then president the late Ghulam Ishaq Khan to monitor the elections.
**
**In a statement submitted to the court, Gen Durrani said the amount distributed by him was approximately Rs70 million out of a total of Rs140 million. The remaining amount was deposited in a special ISI fund.
**
**He said he had assigned the job of distributing the money to certain officers of the Military Intelligence who were cognisant that the money was for the election purpose and after doing so they had informed him about its distribution.
**
Gen Durrani said the names of these officers and some of the classified documents available with him would be submitted to the court in a sealed cover, but added that these should be treated as classified.

The court will take up the case on Monday.

Re: Ex-ISI chief submits statement on bribing of politicians

1st of the all, put this ex-ISI chief behind the bars for good number of years for bribing the politicians...

then we will look into the politicians

Re: Ex-ISI chief submits statement on bribing of politicians

Credit goes to Ex-ISI Chief for revealing this horrible, dark side of politicians. Had they really honest, they would have never accepted this bribe from army. Perhaps he is "waada muaf gawah" in the court.

Major responsibility lies on politicians who took bribe, Ex CAOS, Mirza Aslam Beg and Ghulam Ishaq Khan.

Re: Ex-ISI chief submits statement on bribing of politicians

They are doing it continuously .
Now they use Malik Riaz and few like him for this all .

Re: Ex-ISI chief submits statement on bribing of politicians

Yeah the generals are just saints, they gave whatever was asked by the politicians, this brings me to my next question, who authorize such payments and from where they get these funds to pay... is it the money the took as a loan in the name of state of Pakistan to which we are paying the interest till now or it is the money of the tax payers???

Do they have mandate to give money to the politicians, my guess is, yes but the politicians and civil servants of enemy or other states to get the required information and not to the our country... and that is because they want their own pet to be in the govt....

Re: Ex-ISI chief submits statement on bribing of politicians

No they are not. You know that I have been very vocal on this forum against these corrupt power hungry generals. But the politicians who took money are more responsible and corrupt. Same these ugly faced corrupt politicians blame ZAB, BB, Zardari and other PPP leaders for corruption. Remebmer What Zia said for such politicians, in ko paisay dikhao to yeh dum hila kar puhanch jaatay hain" For him all these politicians belonged to IJI were like dogs, Zia's saying was correct for these politicians. These were the same "9 Sitare" who with the help of ISI started agitation against legally elected government which paved way to the longest marshal-law in the history of Pakistan.

Re: Ex-ISI chief submits statement on bribing of politicians

Actually all the army personnel, all politicians, all journalists who were a party of that, as well as any journalist to be thrown in jail, ask for paying back everything+inflation adjustment.
