Ex dictator fled the country before the opening of the courts on monday morning. It may be noted that an application was filed in the court to put his name on ECL as he may try to flee the country to avoid charges in the case of murder of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti. Also the court is being moved to hear cases of high treason against him. Ex dictator claims he will be a state guest in China (although an invitation from Chinese govt. to the ex dictator never came in any news item) and will proceed to UAE after that. He furthur claimed that he will be returning home around 15th April, a claim which generally people of Pakistan believe is not true. It is highly unlikely that the ex dictator will ever come back to the country as he had already admitted to acting illegally when he abrogated the constitution on November 3rd, a crime which is considered high treason according to the law of the country, punishable by a death sentence.
It is highly disappointing to note that a criminal of such a high profile was able to flee the country and probably will never be brought to justice according to the law of the land. It may be remembered that in addition to high treason charges he faces several murder charges including those of 50 innocent people who were killed on May 12th 2007, which later the ex dictator claimed on the same day in a public rally was a show of his political strength in Karachi..
