More please. I like reading about our cities and villages from natives
okay this is back after being gone for almost 2 years
Anchal,
the hill that says Labaik prolly is part of the Frontier Force Regimental center. The Piffers' motto is Labaik. Other training centres include those of Baluch and the Army Medical Corps, besides the Pakistan Military Academy in nearby Kakul. Sis you ever get a chance to go upto Thandiani? The view of Abbotabad is simply breathtaking! also Major Abbot (after whom Abbotabad is named) wrote a poem about the city.
Ok, My father's side is from Wazirabad and my mother's side is from Lahore. Sine both of em were in the army, I was born in the most Fauji city of em all Rawalpindi!! All three of them are my home but like any one from Pindi/Islamabad will tell you, there is a special bond with these cities, so here I go about Rawalpindi. Ah! Rawalpindi, lots to see, but for a Pindi native it is bliss to simply be there. The various mohallas Westridge, Peshawar Road, Saddar, Tench Bhatta, Number 22 Chungi, Lalazar, 502 Workshop, Chaklala, Adiala Road etc etc. Each of these places have thier own character hard to describe but easy to differentiate based on experience. Famous foods of Pindi are Kareem kay Samosay (Bank road in Saddar) and his Kashmiri Chai wah! AND Grotto Jalaibi of Murree Road. These two things you cannot find anywhere else!!!
Also I think the bakeries of Pindi and Islamabad are very very good. (Is Broadway still there any one?). Oh well lots more to tell (Shopping, places to hang out, Islamabad). I'll describe them if anyone is still interested.
