Everyday Pills

Someone suggested that I should take three things everyday: MultiVitamin (One a day for women brand), Fish Oil, and Nature’s Bounty Hair Skin & Nails. I used to take Soloday by GNC but I usually am forgetful and don’t always keep up with the pills. Do you think it’s a good idea to take all three above? I don’t want to overdose on certain things, you know. My physician is useless to ask anything.. he makes it sound like I don’t need ANYTHING at all.. but I don’t agree. Any advice from users and doctors here would be appreciated, thanks!

Re: Everyday Pills

Is it really necessary to take all these vitamins and pills at this age? I really never take any... should I be taking these things?

Re: Everyday Pills

Either take the Hsir Skin and nails or the multi vitamin. You can continue with the fish oil. If I were you I would take the multivitamin and fish oil instead of the Hair, skin and nails, as I took it and never saw any improvement.

Re: Everyday Pills

Thanks Eastern- will def. try that.

Sabriya- Apparently, it is important. I never took anything either but started with Solo Day only because everyone started saying that since you don't get all your nutrients from food like you're suppose to, it's important to take Multi Vitamins to be healthy..

lol

Re: Everyday Pills

one-a-day has gelatin...that's why i don't take it. so becareful, like try and find one without it (centrum also has gelatin).

Re: Everyday Pills

Unless you have a specific problem with your hair skin or nails, you dont need to take it. A good multi vitamin with minerals and fish oil is good. Evening Primrose Oil is esp good for women and at some point you need to be taking calcium supplements.

I take multi vit/minerals, EPO and calcium as my daily routine.

Re: Everyday Pills

the only thing you need to take it is a multivitamin and calcium. the end. and with all pills, ask your doctor before you start on anything.

Re: Everyday Pills

I kind of agree with the doc that a multivitamin isnt needed for young healthy people...it can't hurt though. But take a look at the first urine after taking your vitamin. If its bright yellow, thats your vitamins going down the flush!

Re: Everyday Pills

^what do umean? what does that signify?

Re: Everyday Pills

...most of the vitamins that you take in pill form are not needed so you "pee them out". So when you buy these over-the-counter vitamins, they mostly just go "down the toilet" see what I mean? It doesnt hurt you, and if you do indeed have some shortage, they can be helpful but for the most part young healthy people do not need them unless getting pregnant, ARE pregnant or are recovering from delivery.

Re: Everyday Pills

isn't fish oil pill is for plp who have good chorosterol or somthing,, u shouldn't take it like that. b-complex is also real good to take. i take this multigreen, it has all the vita and greens that i usually dont take with my food. so it kinda gives everything and ive notice a different in energy, hormones balancing, and hair growth.... for breakfast always drink ensure.. i kinda made an daily rutine.

Re: Everyday Pills

I have personally benefitted from vitamins. We do try to eat healthy and do try to get some organic fruits and veggies, but the truth is that the cooking method in our culture may not be the best way to keep the vitamins and minerals potent and active. If you don't eat 5-10 servings of fruits and vegetables, you need a multivitamin.

An article in the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) published a couple of years ago mentioned that every adult must take a multivitamin given the lack of balanced nutrients in our diet, genetic predisposition to hereditary diseases and environmental stress and pollution.

To make a long story short, Shay, you'll be better off taking a mutivitamin and the fish oil. Pays off in the long run.

Re: Everyday Pills

If you are not using good quality vitamins they will not be easily absorbed and so you may end up flushing away the vitamins.

I would advocate eating a balanced diet, but to supplement it with vitamins/minerals because sometimes as niksik say we cook the life out of our veggies. Also we eat fruit/veg from halfway round the world so by the time we actually eat them (after having stored in the fridge etc) the potency is diminshed. So as an insurance policy its good to take basic supplement form.

The best way to eat fruit and veg is if you grow them on your backyard and eat them within half an hour or so of cooking them. Not possible in this day and age.
