Re: ever met a schizo
yes... i went to HS with a girl that got too close to me too fast... the second time we chilled she considered us family.... I was like okkkk NO! She told me she did things because someone else in her head told her too. On the other hand she was very entertaining.
wow. was she ever abusive verbally or physically.
Re: ever met a schizo
well i stopped chillen with her cuz she sorta freaked me out and accused me of things... she was definitely verbally abusive.... physcially im not sure because I didn't stick around long enough to find out.
Re: ever met a schizo
yes, in our college there a centre for these people, so it was a daily to see them, say hi/hello, for 4 years.
some are quiet/shy, some are LOUD!! but very nice.
Allah's creation, we can't complain, only appreciate.

Re: ever met a schizo
When I lived in my first apartment, there was a cvery nice girl living alone on the floor below me. We'd say hello to each other but she pretty much kept to herself, going to church alot, playing her flute alot, no guests. Then one day, I heard her screaming downstairs, heard the door slam and there she was ranting and raving out in the street, then she laid down right in the middle of the road. I went out to try to help her and she was telling me that she used to be vietnamese but got captured and they operated on her eyes to make her look american, that they were coming back to get her. She was totally unaware of who or where she actually was. I got her to go back to her apartment to "hide" from them then I went and got the landlord who contacted her "emergency number" relative. They came to get her and she was hospitalized for two months. Apparently, she has paranoid schizophrenia and stopped taking her medication which brought on the episode that I witnessed. When she returned from the hospital, she was the same shy and sweet woman as before.
Re: ever met a schizo
OMG thats terrible mama
Re: ever met a schizo
Yes I guess its terrible but its also wonderful - that you can have such a terrible disease but as long as you take the meds, you can live a normal life yeah? If that girl had someone who made sure that she took her meds then the whole thing wouldnt have happened but even tho it did, she was away for a few weeks and then returned like nothing happened. The tough thing is that these people have to take their meds like it or not. They take the meds then think they're cured so they stop taking them and thats when all hell breaks loose.
Re: ever met a schizo
:( God, this is very scary. I have studied Psychology and all these mind diseases are really scary. Schizophrenia patients ofcourse suffer so much but its their families that perhaps have to lead a even more difficult life :(. Imagine having your father, mother, wife, sister, daughter, etc not recognizing you.

i think it really depends...there r many cases where even medication can't control the effects and the person would keep going down...first memory than speaking power n etc etc...
Re: ever met a schizo
Yeah it really does differ...
Re: ever met a schizo
Yes, i've been posting recently about my SIL. She has a very aggressive form of MS and also Lupus and its been attacking her brain and central nervous system. She was a vibrant woman, full of life just a mere few months ago but today she is in hospital and only rarely recognizes my brother, her hubby of 23 years. The brain is a fragile and precious thing and when it operates in a normal fashion, it is something to be truly thankful for.
