Ever Had or Have Part Time Jobs?

Just wondering, if any of you guys have ever worked at a job, as a part time thing. For example McDonalds, Grocery Stores, Blockbuster, etc.
Just for some resume experience, extra change, pass the time, etc.

Personally I have worked at KFC and now been working for 10 months at Wal-Mart.

As I go to University, I find having a part time job is very useful to earning some extra money, to pay off gas for the car, or just some extra money to buy something cool.. hmmm like a Xbox

Not only is it good to have some money, but to me, having a job, especially at a place like Walmart where I deal with customers has helped me be more outspoken in public, grow in confidence, etc.

So What jobs did you guys have (what exactly did you have to do?), or do you have?

At the store, I got hired to work in Garden Center to work with the plants, bbq, lawnmowers, and patio sets. After July, I was transfered to Hardware, where I didn’t know anything about paint, and thus learned by practicing over and over, also by getting many angry customers on how the colour doesn’t match up right. Now I’m an ace on how to mix paint, and knowing all the paint colours.

Just recently, I’ve been “promoted”, or you could say so, to a Customer Service Manager (CSM). CSM’s job is to control all the cash registers, with supplying them with money, and working the courtesy desk/layaway. (They are the people that wear the dumb red vests).

So therefore, I only work weekends with my busy workdload, I still enjoy going to work for the fun of it. Sure I have slacked off a lot in my time, and still do, but I guess it’s the communication between customers that interests me.
Even though I’ve been yelled at a hundred times, and the pay is just average, it’s a time passing job.

Inshallah, I’ll acheive my goal and get my career, but till then, this part time job will do. (I won’t be a lifer at Wallyworld!).

Good for you dude! :)

When I was a teenager in highschool, I used to work at McDonals, or should I say McSlaveDrive.

me 2 m8
have a job as a waitor parttime, becuz of uni
My folks earn good money, but i dont like to ask for money or anything
and besides that, its good for social contacts .

I don't have one yet, but I have a chance at a good one either part-time during school or full during summer. ill looking into it but it seems promising, I start off as a Jr. Tech Support dude and may get promoted. I know a guy who works there as a traveling trouble-shooter and so have a major chance. I hope to learn alot from this experience.

I work as the lab assistant in my university's computer lab at the business college. I work like 15 hours per week, and its a great job, as there are virtually no supervisors on my head, no rules in the lab etc... However, its an oncampus job, and virtually all on campus jobs are easy.

I had a part-time job during my last summer during high school…was a cashier at a jewelry kiosk in the mall. Got paid $8/hr. “under the table”. Then, in order to avoid boredom, I worked part-time in the summers during college as a telemarketer for a telemarketing company located near the school. Earned a rate of $9/hr. My parents never allowed me to work in fast food places saying that it wasn’t nice for a girl to work there. :sunny:

I also worked at a Bowling alley and a Pool hall during highschool. I basically bowled and played pool all day and got paid for it :)

Fret, that is funny! :D

It was definately easy money. I mean I was supposed to be working at the front desk, but whenever it was dead or when the boss was gone, I'd play pool or bowl. :)

i jus got my first job ever… cashier at tescos… they’ll hve to train me from from dunno where:confused: i was lookin for full time but only got fridays n saturdays.. but i dnt mind as i dont hve any experience at all:D

Last two years of highschool-- Telemarketing for those Craftmatic Convertible beds 8/hour and some really good extra cash if I happened to sell one. Boring job but good pay compared to student wage of $6 something.

Also worked as a salesperson at one of those booths during christmas time where they make jewlery-- i had to write names or various messages on rice grains and put it in one of those colourful oil filled charms. It was great fun.

Assalamo Alaikum,

I started working part-time on weekends last year at a Pakistani sweet shop. I’m still there and getting a decent pay, Alhamdulillah. Basically, I have to do serve customers and pack orders. Plus I get to have free mithai. :yummy:

i know someone who’d luv ur job :hehe:

she’d eat all the mithai herself, and be the biggest non-paying customer for the shop :hehe: don’t think the shop would last very long after that
