Event management: birthday parties, weddings and celebrations

Is anyone interested in the area of event management as a business? What do the successful event companies do in your area? In Karachi I know drape events management and Tulip management are well known. OUt of curiosity have you ever hired an event management company for a bday party or wedding? Were you happy with the results? Is it better to hire an event management company for a surprise bday party or would you prefer to plan it on your own?

These ideas just came to mind inspired by the fact that it is one of the forum mod’s bday tomorrow. Hope the forum mods won’t mind me posting the link. Agar problem hai then please delete out. Advance mein gustakhi maaf kijiye

Re: Event management: birthday parties, weddings and celebrations

Shaas, welcome to the career forum. We look forward to seeing you post more often here :)

I have used an event management company in the past. One of the things I liked about them was their attention to detail in terms of decoration and flower arrangements , music and photography.

The food was awful though. they had further hired caterers and it wasnt very nice. Using an event management company is a dent on the pocket , no doubt. I would use them again only if I were really short of time and couldnt manage things on my own.

Re: Event management: birthday parties, weddings and celebrations

Thanks CB. Though I am a student I hope one day I will have experiences to contribute. Thanks for telling me about your experience. I was worried that it will be a dent and at the end of the day I won't be able to choose all aspects of the arrangement. If i want to do a surprise for api ..maybe it's best to manage it on my own. I hope api sees it a a bday surprise and notices it.

Re: Event management: birthday parties, weddings and celebrations

I have no experience cz We organize family functions on our own... Also i have heard , event management companies are expensive and are dent on Pocket. I have a plan to Run a Event management company in future.

Re: Event management: birthday parties, weddings and celebrations

I am humbled by how folks conduct events. I can't even manage to run my day on my own. Having said that, I see some parallels between this topic and investing.

Those who are good at it probably would enjoy the process. And prefer to do it themselves. Just as individual investors.

Those who are "functionally challenged" would be best served by hiring an event manager. Much as a person with no knowledge of the market.

For the vast majority with limited knowledge and time, it again makes sense to hire an expert. Applies to events and the market.

So this 2 min study shows beyond a reasonable doubt that the vast majority of folks should go the hiring the expert way.

Re: Event management: birthday parties, weddings and celebrations

Sahi baat hai sahi baat hai bhai. Surprise bdays feel better when you've planned it yourself. Makes it more special.

PS. Hint hint..kuch kehna bhool gaye aap..:) abhi waqt hai

Re: Event management: birthday parties, weddings and celebrations

Same. I wish I was as functionally capable though. You see some of the threads in cooking and events..and i'm just blown away by the knowledge folks have there. So

Southie Uncle..aap ko shayad kuch aur kehna hai iss thread pe

Re: Event management: birthday parties, weddings and celebrations

Aapki anthim vaakya humein samajh nahin aayi. Kripaya splain karein.

Waise Delhi Lahore Karachi ka kuch Pata chala? Keh deejiyega ki baar baar unke ghayab hone pe humein bohuth pareshani hoti hai

Re: Event management: birthday parties, weddings and celebrations

koi baat nahi Southie Uncle. Kuch nahi tha. Maine kuch nahi kaha :frowning: :teary1: Jinko dekhna tha woh nahi hua ab mujhe kuch aur umeed nahi karna
Delhi lahore karachi is always on move..jaise naam vaise kaam. Unko pakhdana mushkil nahi asambhav hai. Hum unko batayenge ke aap bahot pareshan ho jaate hain aur woh aap ke liye bullet train se metro train ke speed pe aa jayengi.

Re: Event management: birthday parties, weddings and celebrations

Pakhdana - have someone catch or track down said person.
Pakadna - track down said person oneself.

Aap idhar mere khayak se pakadna istimaal karna chahte the...Waise samajh mein nahi aayi kyon Aap udaas ho gaye. Kya humare keyboard se kuch ghalat shabda prakat huwe?

Re: Event management: birthday parties, weddings and celebrations

You are completely correct. My roman hindi is not good. :) Nahi aap kuch ghalat nahi likh sakte galti se bhi nahi . Main bas D2LK ki tara apna mazak nahi banana chahti. Lekin mujhse control nahi hota. Do you think i go overboard with my comments on indian-pakistani threads? From feedback i have received do i come across as insecure, trying to impress and needing approval. That I should be like other Indian members here and comment generally and not try to bridge any indian-pakistani divide because it will only backfire on me. Lekin all i am doing is appreciating pakistani things and posting anything pro pakistani from indian sides. NOt saying i am representative, or comparing cultures or saying it's the same. I thought only secure people can appreciate other things.Just wanted to show Pakistanis, especially living in Pakistan, that Indians like me also exist. Even if i am posting positives that people already know isn't it good to know that foreigners acknowledge it as well.If one cannot appreciate Pakistani things on a Pakistani forum then where can it be done? Samajh nahi aata. So confused. I feel like i should change myself and not be as expressive but then i wouldn't be authentic to myself. Maybe i'm too idealistic and inexperienced. There are rigid people on both sides who don't like you praising each side. I have Pakistani friends in Pakistan who get suspicious looks when they like Indian things. Then people look at me like I have 3 heads when I praise Pakistani things. Not all but some. It's sad.:( Pata nahi kuch kabhi badal sakta ya nahi when people can't think beyond that. Just think i get too senti on forums. I've reached
90. :) Not bad.

Re: Event management: birthday parties, weddings and celebrations

Re: Event management: birthday parties, weddings and celebrations

Shouldn't it be D2L2K?

Re: Event management: birthday parties, weddings and celebrations

na I think the 2 symbolises going from one country to the other
So from Delhi to Lahore which are sister cities so they come first :)

Re: Event management: birthday parties, weddings and celebrations

Maybe within country use subscript. But still maintain the 2.

Why u argue with me
