Apple is, and will be giving out free Phone Cases (which apparently fix the reception issue) to anyone who asks for it. Additionally, you can return yours, if it’s within 30 days and incur no restocking fees.

Most people I know have cases on their iphones anyways (either clear hard shell or gel) because iphone gets scratched if not covered. So the case might not be a bad idea.

Steve Jobs didnt reveal anything new about the antennagate or suggest a solution that was already there. Basically he said that that Apple has sold close to some 4 million iphones in 3 weeks or something.

He sort of admitted there was a reception problem.

This can only be fixed with a better design. And apple is not about to recall those 4 million iphones. So basically we wait till iphone 5 comes out, sometimes summer 2011.

Apple will now give free “bumpers” to those who are buying iphone 4 now so “solve” the antenna issue. They should have given these bumbers free in the first place esp when the issue surfaced. There was no need to have a press conference to announce this.
