Momiji: Hey ~ hey ~
Momiji: I had a class meeting yesterday.
Kyou: Huh?
Momiji: There was one classmate who bought a book before the meeting. A book called “The Complete Jokes Anthology” That classmate really like strange books. Before this, he bought a book called “The Overcooked Planet”…
Yuki: What are you trying to say?
Momiji: Oh, right. Um…well, we all read the book together. In amidst all the stories, there was one called “The Most Foolish Wanderer in the World”.
The foolish wanderer was on a journey. In what way was he foolish, you say? He was easily deceived by others. He was deceived by people he passed on his journey.
Lady: I don’t have money for medicine.
Momiji: Every time someone did that, he ended up being tricked of his money, clothing, shoes…
Little boy: My sister is sick…
Momiji: But because the wanderer was a fool, every time the person lied and said “Thank you, this will help me so much.”…
Old man: I don’t have money to buy seeds…
Momiji: His eyes would fill up with tears and he would say “I wish you happiness, I wish you happiness.”
Because of that, in the end he was bereft even of his clothes and he had to go around naked. This caused the wanderer to feel embarrassed, so he took to traveling through the woods.
And then, this time he met the fey beings that lived in the woods. The beings wanted to eat his flesh, so they plied him with honeyed words.
Fey: My child is sick…
Momiji: Of course the wanderer fell for the lie, and gave one leg and one arm to the fey.
In the end, he was left with only his head. He had even given his eyes to the last fey.
That fey, while wolfing down his eyes, had said “Thank you. In return, I shall give you a gift”, put down the gift and left.
However, that was also a lie. The present was a piece of paper with the words “fool” written on it.
But the wanderer still cried.
“Thank you. Thank you. This is the first time someone has ever given me a present. I’m so happy, so happy. Thank you, Thank you.” Even though he had no eyes, the tears still flowed in a torrent.
And in that state the wanderer took his last breath…and died.
Momiji: …everybody in the class laughed.

What a stupid story, let’s read another one.

Momiji: Standing in their midst , I closed my eyes, and tried to think about it from the wanderer’s point of view.
I thought about the wanderer who was tricked and became only a head and cried while giving thanks.
And I thought…
Momiji: Isn’t that…endearing…
Shigure smiles and pats Momiji’s head
Momiji: Loss or hardship…it is meaningless to dwell on them, so the wanderer did not think about these things.
Momiji: Even though…to some people he may be a fool, but to me he is not.
To somebody else, he is somebody easy to deceive.
But I won’t deceive him.
I would only want to give him happiness.
