This new super market in my neighborhood has this system where you can take a handheld mobile checkout scanner with you and check all the items at the time you pick them up from the shelf ,scan it, and put it in the shopping basket. Of course you have to be a registered user to do so.
I was excited about this new technology because it will save some time for me.
But every single time I went to the checkout to complete the checkout process and pay the machine will want me to call for assistance and one of the cashiers will come by, take out all the stuff from the shopping basket ,and will check all the items again manually . WTH. I guess it is because my first legal name is name of our holy Prophet( SAW).
I have stopped shopping from this supermarket altogether and tell all my Muslims friends not to shop at their supermarket. It is their loss not mine.
Re: Even self checkout machines are profiling Muslims.
While shopping late nights , let say at Tesco ..
I always go for self checking option ..
So far the above mentioned scenario never happened to me or any other fellas I know
And checking assistance is mostly required , if am buying something which comes with a security tag need to be removed] … or an item jis ko weigh karma paray..
Maybe the sales assistant is checking you (or anybody else for that matter) aren't about to nick an item. Could well be an honest standard procedure.

other then that ..... its a fair play ...
If I have few items and do the regular self checking it is OK .
The self checking I am talking about is different then the one you know.
Again, in this case:
1.You go to a kiosk where the hand held wireless scanners are hanging
2. You pickup one of the scanners and then you begin your shopping.
3. You go to for example cookies isle and pickup a box of cookies and scan the item and put in your shopping cart , you go to the beverages isle and pickup a bottle of coffee and scan it and put it in your cart and so and so forth.
4. Once you are done you go to the self checkout you place the scanner in the reader which reads your shopping
5. The total is displayed and you pay for it and then a receipt gets printed.
Number forth step is the one which is screwed in my case it will not display the total and will ask me to press the button to call for the checker who will come and take me to a check stand for manual checking of all the items again at a manual check stand.
