Euthanasia..

Re: Euthanasia..

Exactly. I always argue that Allah gives us strenth and determination to acquire the things we need to succeed in life, to go out and work hard to put food on the table, a roof over ur heads etc. even my own parents say it all the time “allah dhay gha paisay” and i’m like.. “how? by making it grow on trees?”

Re: Euthanasia..

Sarah - In this medium, it is really hard to figure out sometimes whether someone is being funny, ironic, or serious. I mean that I thought it was ironic and funny what you said. It was so true is was not funny in a way. I agree with you.

Re: Euthanasia..

It’s alrite  Maybe the fact that you found it funny shows YOUR true colors  :hehe:

Re: Euthanasia..

yeah, I know lol

Re: Euthanasia..

in that case we might jus wipe out half of earth’s population…
surely they r living in misery too…
ppl in africa, many parts of asia who go days without proper food…
why not just nuke em and end their misery as well???

Re: Euthanasia..

^ Because they still have their all senses working all well. They have their body and mind that works well, which is substantial enough for "hope". They can live through it or escape (using the very body parts and mind) or make something better out of it given whatever circumstances may be. They have the ability to feel pain or happiness on their own.

But a human body about whom no one can even guess what it's going through and have no chances of sustaining life on its own is entirely a different matter.

That is your opinion, Roman. Her brain is fucntioning, she can comprehend the gravity of the situation. Sustaining life on its own...no one can do that, we all need help from each other. Our lives our dependant on so many factors other than using our legs to walk towards a table and use our hands to eat.

Re: Euthanasia..

I think you pretty much gave the counter-argument to your argument in the above.

Before we can sustain life emotionally, we got to be able to sustain it through our normal organs and mind. Our body and mind is what helps us to find ways to come closer to others on whom we can depend on. That part comes far later. We are talking about at the very basic level here -- you know, no oxygen, no life sorta thing. You gotta have both. Just oxygen (or food in this case) is not enough.

Re: Euthanasia..

Roman, let me ask you this. Are you against capital punishment? Are you against abortion?

Do you think that we should play God in this situation and decide who gets fed and who does not? Maybe in the near future they will develop some medicine that can revive all of her body functions. Do we want to turn our back on the person who needs our help the most? I rather not pay for "sustaining" a child molester sitting in a jail getting fed three square meals a day and will never be cured of his sick disease. I will rather put him down like a dog than give up on a human being who needs our help.

Re: Euthanasia..

I'm divided on capital punishment. There are strong argument on both sides.

I'm not against abortion.

I don't see this as a "playing God" situation. I don't know that if God wanted that woman to die by means of pulling off the tube or not. Do you?

I would rather not pay for the child molestor either but that's irrelevent.

Re: Euthanasia..

You have a point. I dont know that either. I do know that If I were the one who had to stop her feeding...or pulling the tube out, I will have a very tough time with that decision. What ifs ...will haunt me for the rest of my life.
On a side and personal note. When my brother passed away, people who were around him, told me that Dr. in the hospital did not want to try the electric shock to see if they could revive him. You know, it is very painful to get over what if's... I try everyday to convince myslf that it was Allah's will.....that is why I say why not exhaust every possible avenue we have to see if we can help her.
