we had the exact same discussion in our philosophy class 3/4 days ago and some of the students agreed with it , some didn't.
what i would say is that if a patient cant take the pain anymore s/he should have the right to decide what s/he wants to do with his/her life... this right should only be given if doctor's are 100% sure that the patient cannot recover from whichever condition they are in...
If the patient even has like 2% chance of getting better, than euthanasia should not be allowed and everything should be done to make the patient in better condition. Just my 2 cents there.
