European football leagues

Re: European football leagues

if FA is not won, wenger may leave.
I like the guy, but the performance against scouse and chelski showed that there are issues that he simply is not prepared for.
I know he likes his philosophy and all but he has to adapt, he needed to buy in January, and he did not, he knew he needed a better striker and her did not. he is slow at changing tactics if plan A is not working, and is bad at having plan B and C.

The injuries in training are a mess.

Maybe a diff thread on european leagues, but I am wondering what the impact would be of the investigations against diff clubs going on right now.

Re: European football leagues

Completely agreed that he cant adapt. His mentality is old school. he doesnt spend, thats his problem. Ozil was his biggest signing this season, but me personally i think he paid too much for him. If you dont spend, you get left behind thats how it is now. I think everton have a game in hand over arsenal right now?. The only one who could have maybe gotten away with not spending is fergie, but united are feeling the effects of it now and the powers that be have picked up on it which is why moyes gets £200 million this summer.

Liverpool back on top!! if we get champions league, rodgers gets somethin like 70 million. Could use that to pick up a winger, a DM and a left back, maybe another central defender depending on how skrtel does for the rest of the season - if hes consistent enough

Re: European football leagues

Problem with Wenger is he's too nice. Players can stroll through a match because they know nothing will happen. With SAF they were terrified. He doesn't know how to set up his teams against the top dogs, instead of playing on other teams' weaknesses he tries to play to our strengths, strengths which sometimes are not enough against quality opposition.

Title is Liverpool's to lose now. As for us we have to make sure not to lose against Everton.

Re: European football leagues

Semi finals

PSG-Real madrid
Barcelona-bayern

Im calling it.

I think real madrid will win it this year - just because the team has such amazing chemistry. Although i think ancelotti should have started off de maria. He plays excellently with benzema and always seems to know where he will be. Kind of gutted about barcelona's transfer ban

Re: European football leagues

genuinely feel bad for chris hughton. Top lad and manager who was at the wrong team, at the wrong time in my opinion. Very risky decision getting rid of him at this stage of the season. If they had won the fulham game they would have at least had that safety net. They have very hard fixtures coming up and bringing in someone else is a stupid move.

Re: European football leagues

:k:

Re: European football leagues

Stunning performance from A.Madrid to knock out Barca, as a Gooner I feel ashamed at how they did this year compared to us.

Re: European football leagues

i dont understand the implosion. it reminds me of the team just hitting the skids after losing to birmingham in FA and then just collapsing. I am hoping the ramsey, ozil and kallstrom can pump some energy. Otherwise I dont know, maybe it is time to find a new manager. Huge supporter of Wenger but his lack of plan B and not adjusting tactics always gets his butt kicked.

Re: European football leagues

Its my gut feeling that he is gonna go this summer. And i think its in his and the clubs best interest that he does leave. He is skating on extremely thin ice. With everton a point behind arsenal, its very possible that they could beat a tired Man united (from champions league) and leap frog arsenal into the top four (if worst case scenario everton lost against sunderland this week). The FA cup is his only saving grace. Iv always admired his integrity, but he's out of his depth at this point. On a side note, its great to see ramsey has hit form right away. Fair play to him after being out for so long

Re: European football leagues

Henri still playing these days?

He is playing in NYC.

Re: European football leagues

Oh ok. American soccer means stick a fork in it. Make some big bucks before fading to obscurity.

I have been a huge admirer of Wenger, but he is not able to bring the mental strength to his team that he needs to, that is one thing SAF and The special one do very well. The lack of plan B, keeping players around who simply add very little.. Diaby for instance, just means that you can't rotate as much and the first team is playing more than anyone, burn out, injury and exhaustion is a huge issue.

The shelf life at the top is not too long in competitive leagues. So you earn the big bucks before retiring fully. US leagues, Middle East or even other Asian leagues have served that purpose.

Re: European football leagues

Arsenal winning it the hard way. Hopefully they do better in the final.

They looked more lively today no doubt, thanks to chamberlain and the pace he brought which picked arsenals game up. Sinogo couldn't finish, missed a few good chances but it's still early days. But I'll tell you what this kalstrom lad impressed me. I believe he's on loan from spartal Moscow. But it's like X2 said wenger can't adapt, most other managers switch the squad around at half time, his remains largely the same

Re: European football leagues

Pires, Ljunberg, Henry, Veira, Bergkamp, Sol, Cole, Lauren, Silva

What a team that was. Compared to today.

We made an easy win messy.Tbf we did crack the woodwork a few times, we need a change.

YNWA!!!!!!

Fight for 4th position is heating up. Second goal was phenomenal. Vermalen plays it nicely to giroud rips it into the net

Re: European football leagues

Giggs exceeded all expectations. Just hand him the job after the summer.
