EIP took over management control of PTCL and partly of Ufone on April 12th, 2006.
PTCL has been privitised at $1140m, $500m out of which have been paid off and the remaining $640m will be paid in installments completing the payment by 2010.
It has been said that the money generated from this deal will be used for paying off overseas debts of Pakistan government.

The idea of control shifting to Emirartes based Etisalat doesnt sit well with me but the money here is real. The debt was around 30 Billion last time I checked so 1 down, 29 more to go! :k:

But why with all this money, the debts continue to rise instead of declining. Why?
