Okay I know there are benefits in joining a madrassa for this purpose but it’s not necessary, is it? It’s just that I haven’t heard of anyone learning Quran at home in their own time so I just wanted to make sure is mein kuch ghalat tau nahin hai?

no, it’s NOT necessary…i’ve seen kids memorizing Qur’aan at home. it’s absolutely OK to memorize at home.
