Re: Etiquettes of pedestrian crossing
I sense your frustration ardi, downtown chicago its a pain taking a right turn because when u have to turn its green for pedestrians too..sometimes I just want to run over the clueless tourists walking at the speed they usually walk in dubuque iowa...
tell me about it...
downtown is the worst part of town to take a right or left turn unless they have a turn light...
the pedestrians are suppose to stop walking once the don't walk sign comes on and if they're in the crosswalk to quickly clear it but u see ppl just running half a block away to get their foot in the crosswalk before the traffic light goes orange. So while you're sitting there waiting for them to clear the crosswalk, they just keep going and going... most don't even look at the pedestrian control, instead they're looking at the traffic light and stop only if they see it turn orange. The result is that with each green light only one car can legally turn and a couple other frustrated ppl turn on a red light without stopping. Traffic authorities are now coming to their senses and are installing both left and right turn signals at most intersections.
