Has anyone travelled with Etihad? What is the service/costs like compared to to other middle eastern arlines like Qatar amd Emirates?
Re: Etihad Airways
I have recently travelled with them on my last two trips to Pakistan. they are cheaper than emirates about 40-90 pounds for return flights.
flights standards are comparable to emirates. I dont know about qatar though never travelled with them.
Abu Dhabi airport is bit depressing cage like structure, very small compared to Dubai one. that may be next for them to build a new one.
Re: Etihad Airways
is Etihad a new project/ investment by sharif family ?
Re: Etihad Airways
^^ Etihad is national airline of UAE, very new but not owned by Sharifs but Abu Dhabi Emirate, they cant think of business but only how to loot it.
They had EtifaaQ industries, made to govt through it, got fortune for it, then lost interest in earning money by business when they can get it without doing anything.
Re: Etihad Airways
Qatarz n Emirates service is 100% better than Etihad, i've travelled in all these flights this year. If you directly want to go Dubai then choose Emirates only otherwise go by Qatar Airways.
Re: Etihad Airways
I haven't travelled by Etihaad but have used Emirates and Qatar recently. My sis in law described a poor service from Etihaad and Abu Dhabhi airport was a let down (might be due to length of transfer - 7 hours)
Emirates was great service and Qatar was great service and comfort on the flight. Masses of legroom for economy class!
Re: Etihad Airways
I would rate emirates higher than etihad, but surely qatar is not better than etihad. stay in abu dhabi is only depend when you booking flights, it varies from 2 hours to 14, choice is always yours not airlines ;)
Re: Etihad Airways
Can't comment on whether Etihad rates higher than Qatar - until I fly Etihad....(good excuse for a holiday!!!)
I agree that the choice is yours..........but when you are my sis in law you look for the fact that you are saving a few £££££ than the fact that you will have a long transfer with 2 little kids!!!
Like my recent trip to India - transfer was 2 hours on the way there and 2 hours 20 mins on the return! Simple! Only paid £45 more than if I had a longer transfer time!!
Re: Etihad Airways
QA is better than all ME airlines and one of the four airlines that have gained the "five star airline" status from Skytrax.
Re: Etihad Airways
PIAs non stop flight beats everything - purely for its convenience
specially if you are travelling with kids and family.
No transfers - transits - long waits - nothing
And service maynot be like EXCELLENT - It is not bad either ![]()
For me - PIA all the way ![]()
Re: Etihad Airways
^^ Heck yea I took that this time when I went to Karachi from Toronto.. the seats were arranged in rows of 3-3-3 so my mom and 2 sisters took one row and I had to sit with some "strangers".. never mind how it went
There was this old couple beside me who apparently didn't know how to travel on a plane (turning around, "beta kya, beta yeh," once even "blew it" > I almost had to stop my breath) ... And then there was this 6- or 7-year-old kid in front of me looking from above the seat and making noise, smiling weirdly, talking to the uncle beside me (a prim and proper wannabe who was trying to respond "aptly" to the kid - too apt if you ask me)
And this lady in front of me bent her chair all the way down so that I could barely move my head.. I tried to excuse her but she was sound asleep.. no manners at all whatsoever.. I couldn't eat the food served on the flight heartily after the experience.. the only + was that the ppl were of our kind (do not mannerful of course though)
That's been my experience on the PIA non-stop flight so far (my first experience on a non-stop flight).. I wish we had one stopover so I could stretch out a bit on the airport..
Re: Etihad Airways
^ all your complaints have been about the >>>Pakistani<< part in Pakistan International Airlines.
You can have the best of planes, the nicest of routes but when you put our people anywhere near something nice, they'll figure out how to ruin it. Somehow.
It's the people who fly in PIA that make it horrible. Not PIA itself. Book yourself a business or economy plus ticket, you'll have one heck of an experience for the premium.
Re: Etihad Airways
hskhan, yeah but when you refer to 'our people' they are not just sitting in the plane, they are also in sales, customer service, check-in, and inflight service.
My experience has been that u try to be freindly with these ppl, especially the check-in types and they will trat you like crap. show up acting like a real ass, and treat them like morons in Pakistan treat their domestic help, and then see them bend over backwards and run around trying to please you.
izzat raas naheen aati shayad kuch logon ko.
Re: Etihad Airways
^^^ I agree with you frauds! ;) thats true.
Re: Etihad Airways
Does Etihad have more leg room than PIA or is it the same? I might be traveling to Pak and Itihad is giving the best rate these days, just confused which one is better regarding service, leg room, food etc......... comments...plz
Re: Etihad Airways
choose etihad. better in service, leg room is same or more than PIA food and in flight entertainment is good too, that actually works.
Re: Etihad Airways
Thanks.
Re: Etihad Airways
I flew Etihad last week, I had a great experience - service, food, inflight entertainment, etc. but then I flew business class. An acquaintance i made in the airport in Abu Dhabi flew Economy, and she told me later that it was comparable to Emirates. Etihad is offering good rates these days, it's true.
Re: Etihad Airways
its new kid on the block just started 1 or 3 years ago as National airline of UAE and it is comparable to emirates, but to get to that level they need to expand and some years down the line though, but had wonderfull experience with them.

Buddy I was in economy class... yes I m also agreeing with you in the fact that hte ppl of PIA make it horrible
