Etihad Airways: Chicago to become Etihad’s second destination

Since PIA isn’t going to come back around any time soon to IAH/ORD, Etihad will gain revenues and surely Pakistani passenger and those going eastwards will utilize Etihad.

Anyone planning to travel around the time? Or planning to take Etihad specifically? Please post a trip report if you do.

On a side note, Etihad has also signed code-share with American Airlines. So that’s sure to tap into other markets and generate more passenger load for Etihad for places where Etihad and/or American doesn’t currently fly. Good strategy :k:

Re: Etihad Airways to Chicago this Autumn

this is like the third thread for this eagerly awaited Etihad's Chicago route... This actually will be very good for many.
About the AA code, that looks awesome.. Etihad can actually make London/Chicago/New York as Hub.
My friend recently flew from Pakistan to AUH to LHR to Boston on EY/AA, and he liked it..

I flew from Bahrain to LHR to Boston on GulfAir and really hated it, ( cause of Gulf Air only).

Re: Etihad Airways to Chicago this Autumn

Yes, there is most definitely a lot of noise about Etihad coming to Midwest because for the longest Chicago residents or those around the Greater Chicagoland area had to either opt with Royal Jordanian (which doesn't even go to Pakistan now), or connect to London via another airline, or fly out to JFK and catch a preferred carrier from there.

With Etihad being in Chicago, it will draw huge numbers locally citywide, as well as those who live in nearby cities and regional states who would gladly board it knowing it's the most direct option locally right now.

Just wish there were more options, but heard Emirates is coming soon too.

I believe that this Chicago service will be used by our desi canadians as well.. guys from Calgary, Vancouver Areas as well...

this will definitely open up more competition from Middlea Eastern Airlines..About Emirates, Teggy they are in trouble right now. they removed A380 from JFK for that particular reason.. Another US route in additions to two californian routes and JFK aint possible at this moment..

Re: Etihad Airways to Chicago this Autumn

Teggy Bhai,, another news...

ISLAMABAD: Etihad Airways is offering an Early Bird discounted fare for all Chicago travellers from Pakistan during the inaugural month of September - for fares starting from just Pak Rupees 51,080. Etihad Airways Pakistan Country Manager Amer N. Khan said, "Etihad Airways will be the only airline offering one-stop flights to Chicago from Pakistan, starting from 2nd September 2009, our second destination in the United States after New York." These Early Bird fares not only provide bumper discounts to our guests, but as part of our launch promotions they will get double Etihad Guest Miles for travel made on these fares - all while enjoying excellent connections via Abu Dhabi to Chicago and beyond in the US with our interline partners".

Re: Etihad Airways to Chicago this Autumn

Thanks for sharing.

:hinna: Wish i could travel this year. It’s not likely though. inshaAllah next year maybe

coolbreeze, do you know how can we purchase that earlybird ticket?

Re: Etihad Airways to Chicago this Autumn

If you book from Etihadairways website, Chicago-Islamabad RT Sept30-Oct29, the fare shows up as:

1 Adult: USD Fare $890.00; Tax: $384.43=$1274.43

Not sure if that’s the special. Doesn’t seem so special after the tax :bummer:

Spock.. honestly I dont know whats happening… this apparently seems a OW outbound fare from Pakistan to ORD

.. this 51,800 is like a OW base fare to me without taxes… cause if I try for ISB-ORD OW, then its coming as 673+91$tax. so its like 52000+7000 tax…

this was the source of the actual news… Welcome to Daily Regional Times Online Newspaper

what I further believe is that Etihad is not offering these fares online…So they could be available Either at Etihad Office or travel agents…
