Abdullah applies for work in Company A, and then, afterwards, in Company B.
Company B hires Abdullah and and asks him to start working ASAP, and not wait for the HR side of the Hiring Process to be completed.
A week into work, and he gets a call from Company A. Company A has hired him, and within the next two days finishes off all the HR paper work.
So Abdullah’s sitting there, wondering if he should tell him boss to release him or not, because he is already a critical member of his team. But the issue here is Abdullah has no security in Company B at the moment because…he has had no paperwork done whatsoever, and secondly Company B hired Abdullah on a one month trial contract. Whereas with Company A, he has no such insecurities.
So, is it ethical for him to tell his manager that he’s gonna be leaving, and giving him his shock of the year…when the project they are working on is at such a critical stage.
If Abdullah is such a critical person for company B, he should tell them to finalize his paperwork asap. Otherwise Abdullah would have to leave Company B to join company A, because he shouldn't sacrifise his own career for the project of Company B, if they are not willing to finalize his paperwork.
After working in the corporate world for a few years, I can tell you that a company has NO Loyalty for its employees. A company can layoff a good dedicated worker for any reason.
So, these days, a smart worker should realize that the only person who is looking out for his interests is himself. Therefore, a worker should be doing whatever he can to further his career.
You just had a son, bought a new house and your wife quit her job to take care of the baby. Your income is the only household income. Your company is in a pinch, and can't afford you anymore. Does your boss let you go when you are in such a critical time of your life?
