Ethical Dilemma - II

Folks I have another work related ethical question.

I am checking papers for a course. Is it wrong of me to be more watchful of mistakes in a paper that is apparently that of someone I would probably disagree with on politics (specifically an Indian)? Once again Im not saying I will grade unfairly, just be more thorough in certain cases over others.

Re: Ethical Dilemma - II

if u are going to be more careful because u have personal differences of opinion then that is wrong, if uwere going to be more thorough because someone is suspected of plagiarism or stuff thats a diff thig.

Re: Ethical Dilemma - II

Fraudia your too good a person. I'll wait for someone else's opinion on this one :P

but ok why is it wrong? im doing my job right, so what if its more thoroughly for certain people if nothing against the grading criteria happens. the grading criteria protects the students

Re: Ethical Dilemma - II

U r discriminating and this is wrong.

Re: Ethical Dilemma - II

oh alrite. just checking :/

Re: Ethical Dilemma - II

I guess Ravage u should disregard their name and try grading as u would anyone else...I know we all grow up with our stereotypes...sometimes they become more and more times broken...just mind opening process:)

Re: Ethical Dilemma - II

i actively close my mind when it starts to get too open bibi.

Re: Ethical Dilemma - II

yes I think it is. If you're going to be thorough, you should be thorough with everyone. Everyone has the same right to get a grade htey earned, if that Indian doesnt do a good job then give him a bad grade because he did a bad job. If he did a good job (but happened to disagree) then give him the grade he earned. I dn't c y u need to be thorough with some and breeze over other papers.

one of my professors, a grad student at the college, she'd make us write our names on the inside of hte blue book (test manual), so that shell only look at the answers and not who gave those answers.

Re: Ethical Dilemma - II

Ravage, I am like you when it comes to politics and views of the Indian counterparts, but I am sure you just like me were a student once, and its unfair to not treat every student the same way. I mean ofcourse, some extra hard working and noble students always deserve some extra consideration but in terms of evaluation, you should def. treat them all the same. Maybe thats not the answer you were looking for since you posted it here in religion, but I am sure Islam has the same views, you should treat him the same way as any other student. You can however burn the Bengali Students :hehe: j/k
