Re: Essentials for First Time Parents
PS. Newborn outfits are out of size in literally 2 weeks for most babies. Just FYI!
Re: Essentials for First Time Parents
Whaaaaaaa?
Lusi do you think I should get a few in each size until 12 months right now or should I wait? I am scared of not being able to go out and get this stuff later if I am not feeling well or the weather is too nasty here.
Re: Essentials for First Time Parents
Lusi’s right. But in those first few weeks you either only need newborn or 0-3month stuff (and you’ll change those outfits often, because all they do is poop/pee/leak/spitup/etc, so those early days require lots of quick changes). I’m sure you’ll go to the store to get other things after that. And if you have Amazon Prime (if you don’t, sign up for Amazon Mom and *I think *Prime shipping is free for the first year), you don’t even have to worry about going out in the cold.
Re: Essentials for First Time Parents
I never got newborn, I had 0-3 size both in short and long sleeves. Rest, you will go out, make yourself go out or you will go nuts.
I got lot of different sizes in gifts as well. I am actually going to return some stuff we never opened.
Ditto to what sahar said!
Re: Essentials for First Time Parents
^agree with lusi and sahar … nb sizes dont last at all. if you have carters, old navy (and im sure there are others too) in 0-3 mo sizes … those tend to run large (for most) and lasted longer them 3 mo for me.
as a new mom … online shopping is your friend! … amazon mom, amazon prime … sign up for subscribe n save option for things like diapers/wipes/formula … and they literally arrive at your door step at a timed interval of your choice! which I love love love and never have to worry about running out. for me orders arrive in 24-48 hrs!
same goes for anything really … all major retailers now ship and actually ship free if you spend a certain amount … and often have online specials too etc …
i even shop for storable items that you will ALWAYS need online … like paper towels, TP, soap/detergents, snacks … again never run out and saves you from last min runs to the store …
Re: Essentials for First Time Parents
I’ll be checking out amazon mom and prime then! Fo sho!

Re: Essentials for First Time Parents
I wanted to revive this thread! Has lots of great advice. Also wanted to ask about a chair or rocking chair for the nursery? We don’t have tons of room as the nursery will be shared with the guest bedroom but theres room for a chair corner in either the baby room or office. Is a rocking chair/ regular chair needed for late night feedings? Once my husband goes back to work, I would think it was better to have a separate late night feeding area to avoid feeding in the living room in the middle of the night. What do you guys think?
Re: Essentials for First Time Parents
I don’t have much space in my apartment. I want to keep the guest rooms as is, because both our families live far away and we get lots of overnight visitors and we really need the 2 guest rooms. I’m going to put a crib in our master bedroom and I plan on cosleeping at night and feeding in bed. I know I’ll be too exhausted to get up and feed in the living room or guest room. My husband is a very heavy sleeper so I doubt he’ll get disturbed. If he does, then I’ll just use the guest room bed if no one is staying over.
I don’t have space for a rocking chair even though I LOVE rocking chairs and would use any excuse to buy one.
