Essential Oils and Hydrolats (Rose Water, Witch Hazel etc)

Ok so I have mentioned my skin care regime a few times in various posts. I thought I would make a thread regarding where I buy my products from because I have found them to be excellent quality and well worth the money.

All the products are vegan friendly, parabens free and not tested on animals.

They are all in the appropriate kind of packaging (glass or aluminium) and you can customise the bottles (buy spray or pump caps).

First off is their Rose Water (floral water). It comes in a variety of sizes from 100ml to 1litre. I’m not going to talk about Rose Water because I think most people know a fair bit about it. I’ve been using it for about a year now and highly recommend it. I bought the 100ml bottle and a spray cap.

Secondly are the two products which I primarily have because of electrolysis but I find myself using them all the time.

Tea Tree Oil, which is a great antibacterial, is essential after electrolysis to keep the area clean and prevent whiteheads forming.
Otherwise whenever I feel a spot coming up, I whack some of this on and at least half the time, it goes away before turning in to a pimple or pustule.
Their 100% Pure Australian TTOil is £3.40 for 10ml (much cheaper than the 10ml body shop dilution). I bought some 10ml glass pipette bottles from them too and make my own dilutions with Witch Hazel and TTOil and have given them to all my family. Whenever they run out, I just make them up some more, so it’s packaging friendly.

Next is Witch Hazel. I was using a Witch Hazel Gel (Witch Doctor) to help the skin heal after electrolysis. My sister has a different method of electrolysis performed which can sometimes develop pin prick scabs, she uses it to prevent them forming and to help healing so they drop off a lot quicker.
We both have/had Laser and it’s great for post Laser to help cool the skin and help it heal. In the same way, it’s great for sunburn.

I initially bought the Witch Hazel just as a Toner (bought a spray cap for the bottle) but I have found it’s actually strong enough to work as well as the gel and a lot more cost effective. I use it everyday on my face as it’s good for oily skin as well. I’m prone to pimples in the middle of my chest, which I always thought was connected to acne (which finished many years ago) but I’ve found it’s more to do with the fact that you get clammy there from sweating. I’ve been spraying the middle of my chest every morning after a shower and also after the gym. It’s been a month now and I’ve had no new pimples and the little scars from old ones are fading.

For guys, it’s also great for post shaving to cool the skin and form a protective layer. I’d recommend using it twice a day (let it air dry).

Oh, and if you want to use Olive Oil as a moisturiser, it’s great to combine it with Witch Hazel which is an astringent. I spray some Witch Hazel on my face, then a spritz onto a cotton pad, drop a drop of Olive Oil on top of the moist part of the cotton pad (again, I keep Olive Oil in a 10ml pipette bottle) and swipe on the dry areas.

I’ve actually just bought a 500ml bottle from them (to refill my 100ml bottle) and some empty 100ml aluminium bottles with spray caps, so that I can give bottles out (works out a lot cheaper).

So yeh, I highly recommend Naturally Thinking. They do have international shipping as well.

[Their website is undergoing changes at the moment so not everything works but I ordered from there again last week and it was all good]

Re: Essential Oils and Hydrolats (Rose Water, Witch Hazel etc)

Get ready for the questions!

Does witch hazel have tea tree oil in it? I probs ask you this before, in fact, im sure I have, but I cannit remember the answer. +_+

Re: Essential Oils and Hydrolats (Rose Water, Witch Hazel etc)

You should probably write down everything I say innits.

No, it does not have Tea Tree Oil in it... they are two separate things. I know Boots has products with them both but this website has pure products to let you make your own mixtures. They don't use any chemicals or preservatives either.

Anyway, I can give you a bottle of Witch Hazel, so don't buy yer own.

Re: Essential Oils and Hydrolats (Rose Water, Witch Hazel etc)

Need to test it out first innit.

Rose water stuff does not make my face happies and tea tree oil does not make my face happies either.

Test patches first!

oh and guess what, Monsoon have sold out of my shoes. :(

Re: Essential Oils and Hydrolats (Rose Water, Witch Hazel etc)

I know your skin is sanstive but I think it's worth trying out the Rose Water again from this place. I dunno what kind of Rose Water you were using before but I imagine the quality was dubious.

Re: Essential Oils and Hydrolats (Rose Water, Witch Hazel etc)

Aye maybees, but you also know what happened to me last summer. I am now scareded of trying anything on my face.

Test patches first, if I feel brave.

Cheers Stoppit! I normally get my rosewater from local Asian stores, I'll definitely be getting my supply from here now.

Btw, have you tried any of their hair stuff? I'm on the lookout for decent organic shampoos...just thinking of SLS's and parabens makes my scalp itch!

Re: Essential Oils and Hydrolats (Rose Water, Witch Hazel etc)

I haven't tried any of their hair stuff but I have tried SLS free shampoo's in the past when I was experiencing a lot of hair fall. They usually have other similar chemical's in them instead, although I would hope these ones wouldn't.

I gave up in the end as nothing I tried left my hair feeling clean.

The hairfall must have been stress related as after I got married, it stopped falling. The dryness and itchiness I sort out with Nizoral when it gets really bad but I haven't used that in a year either.

I hope you find something good!

Re: Essential Oils and Hydrolats (Rose Water, Witch Hazel etc)

This might sound silly but is it ok to keep it in the fridge?

Re: Essential Oils and Hydrolats (Rose Water, Witch Hazel etc)

Absolutely fine.

I find that they don't really need to be though, the Aluminium bottles keep the contents cool even in summer. I keep them on my dresser and my bedroom is very warm but nevertheless they are cool and refreshing.

Re: Essential Oils and Hydrolats (Rose Water, Witch Hazel etc)

Oh and they also sell vegetable glycerine so you can make your own mixtures etc.
