For past month and a half I been working with ESP8266 WiFi module. This module have built in WiFi, Processor and memory . Everything you’ll need to program it . You can just Google it up to see all the features . Its ideal for IoT devices and in bulk it will cost you $1.5 per piece . Yes its way cheaper than Raspberry Pi and Arduino . But of course have limited memory and processing power .
You can either use Luaor C++ (Arduino IDE) to program it . I was using it to control some WS2811lights from my phone over WiFi.
If you are working on any home project then I’ll definitely suggest giving it a shot . You’ll be amazed by how powerful and cost effective this little thingy is .
