LONDON, June 15: Former India captain Saurav Ganguly will begin a short-term stint at Northamptonshire on Monday and is set to face Pakistan when they visit the English county at the end of next month.
Ganguly, who lost the captaincy of India last year and has since been sidelined from the team, is being brought in as cover for Chris Rogers, who will be on Australia ‘A’ duty between June 17 and July 26.
He will be unveiled as a Northants player at a press conference on Monday and is expected to make his first appearance in a C and G Trophy one-day match against Nottinghamshire on June 25.
Ganguly, who has scored 5,221 runs in 88 Tests for India and more than 10,000 runs in One-day Internationals, will get his chance to remind the Indian selectors of his class when Pakistan visit Northampton for a four-day match on July 20-23.
The 33-year-old has previously played for Lancashire (2000) and Glamorgan (2005) in the County Championship.—AFP
