firstly when i hear people saying they are xyz cm dilated, whats that mean, i guess i can tell what it means, but im terrified of someone checking me down there…so far no one has chekced for anything thank god, but nearer the time im guessing il have to be taking my pj`s off.. im more scared of exposure than of anything else at the moment, im 37 weeks and 3 days…so what do i expect from now on??
and so now i need to worry about hygiene down there too:( as well as other stuff…sounds so silly, but its something im nervous about…
first of the people checking will have seen a million and 1 of 'down there' they dont even look at it if u know what i mean its just there so dont worry about that!
And cm dilation means how many cm your cervix is dilated and that will have be checked relatively frequently by someone, you have to reach 10 cm to push.
yes, they'll check down there, especially when you're in labor! keep everything clean. hair removal is hard when you're this pregnant. just do the best you can to keep everything neat and clean. then don't worry. you're dealing with professionals. no one is going to judge you. they've seen it all.
I have no idea how old you are or how long you have been sexually active, but even if you were not pregnant, you should still have annual pelvic exams and pap smears which is the earliest way to detect cervical cancer.
As for hygiene, as others said....OB/GYNs and nurses have seen it all. Just make sure you're clean. If you can shave yourself or get your husband to help you do it, then I'd recommend that. If you're not shaved, the nurses will do it if you end up needing a c-section....not 100% sure if they do it for natural births. If you want to minimize the time people spend "down there", making sure you're shaved before you get to the hospital is one way to do it.
lol, whats wrong is that ive never had it examined, ever,. here you get checked down there once your 25, and alhumdulilah never had any issues where ive needed to get it checked. until now.
so just bit embarrased thinking of it all, im sure when the time comes though il probly not even blush due to the pain of labour.....:(
They will check you "down there" towards the end of your last trimester to check dilation and head postion. Someone's already explained dilation.
Don't worry, at 37 weeks, your baby is actually ready, fully cooked :D. Did they ask you to walk? I was asked to stay active, helps in delivery, and it did. Good luck!
YEAH, im 38 weeks this wednesday, so god knows when theyl check. and nope no one has checked me bfore, hence this panic stricken thread being opened....anyway im sure itl be ok....thanks guys xx
They don't really "look" look, they give you a piece of cloth to cover yourself up with and then check you without really looking down there.... it is uncomfortable but not too bad. I was having some cramps/contractions last week so they checked me (i'm 30 weeks). My OB/GYN was very discrete and quick about it all, a true professional :). Hopefully your OB/GYN is the same, as most are.
Just make sure you're clean and shaved and all whenever you go for a checkup cuz that will be less embarrassing.

No it's not embarrasing....Atleast not for me anymore....coz I got examined about a thousand times when I was pregnant .....I miscarried both times...Second time I had an ectopic pregnancy....I didn't bothered anymore coz they all are gyn...Even male gyn examined me....I can't tell you what kind of feeling you have when your pregnancy is not going as it should be.....at that time you don't care about anything....

so just bit embarrased thinking of it all,** im sure when the time comes though il probly not even blush due to the pain of labour.....:(**
Ditto. You won't even have the time to be ashamed. I didn't have the pains (my baby was born via c-section) but at that time I was only thinking about myself and my baby, I just wanted someone to do something to save me and my baby lolz that's all. So you don't need to get worried about it. Try to stay clean from now as you never know when your time comes.
