Ok, I want to start using an epilator. So who here uses it? What are your opinions?? Need suggestions!
I was thinking about ordering this one: Epilators - Face and Body Hair Removal Devices | Braun US

Re: Epilators
I dont!
but i would love to try one!
Re: Epilators
I do -- Braun's Silk Epil. I know quite a few people who use it.
Re: Epilators
does it hurt?
Re: Epilators
I used Epilator just ONCE and thats was it.. it hurts a lot more than waxing does!
But then my friend has been using it since she was 15 and apparently it doesn't hurt her so its purely your own choice but yes it DOES hurt the very first time you use it! :-)
Re: Epilators
i use braun silkepil and like it quite a lot. haven't ever got waxing done so i am clueless how much that hurts but i have seen a few people getting tearing when they use waxing. So i have never dared going that way. While as far as the epilator is concerned, it hurts when you have long hair..so the shorter the hair is, the less it's going to hurt...and it's not really PAIN that you feel, it's kind of like tingly feeling..your skin may show some redness but you can apply some aloevera gel or lotion to soothe it...
P.S. you may want to use epilators after shower/bath , but be sure your skin is completely dry, because that is when the skin and the hair are soft so it would pain less this way.
Re: Epilators
I have the Braun blue one i think its calle Silk Epil.. its time consuming but so is waxing.. I like it since your hair doesn't grow back as fast. I prefer waxing though, but when i dont have time or have to go somewhere i use the epilator :D
Re: Epilators
It hurts like hell the first few times but then you get used to it.
However if you stop using it for a while and then start up again it'll again hurt like hell :(
The underarms kill the most but then after a while it doesnt hurt at all.
Re: Epilators
geez... all this talk of hurt! i'll stick to my razor :P
Re: Epilators

Re: Epilators
Thanks all of you
I’m still not sure which one to get. I tried it once on my arms and it didn’t take the hairs out from the roots
it basically did what shaving would do. So what is the correct technique to use the epilator?
Which ones do you guys use? How long does the hair usually take to grow back?
Re: Epilators
Chorni I think you can use it anywhere on your body except for the face. How about you try it out and tell me how bad the pain was phir i’ll try ![]()
Re: Epilators

Re: Epilators

Re: Epilators
^^ ermm how so?
Re: Epilators
No, they are not. It is actually part of our fitra to remove the underarm and pubic hair.
Re: Epilators
That’s weird. It should take the hair out by the roots. Try exfoliating with a pummice stone or something first. That might help make the process (and your skin) smoother.
I’ve heard that areas that are used to shaving are initially more painful for epilating. Areas that are usually waxed are a bit less painful when epilating.
I use an epilator on my arms pretty regularly (though haven’t had the guts to do the underarms, though others, like LB, have said that it’s great once you’re used to it). Before epilating I used to wax my arms, and the epilator doesn’t hurt that much there.
I used to shave my legs, then switched to epilating which was really painful and time consuming. Now I’m disciplining myself to wax my legs, and once I’ve done that for a while, I’ll take up epilating there.
I think the epilator is a good investment.
