why keep religion out of it? If that is a motivation for people then thats what it is. Everything isnt about greenhead vs redneck, red vs blue, bush vs al gore, libs vs dems vs falana etc etc.

Besides who determines what is a required amount and what is "wasteful"?

is that like asking who desides whos good or bad? whats good and evil? whats right and wrong? if your really that confused about waste dont bother about it. I know what I find wasteful and I avoid it. Simple.
ravage, like I said, you cannot judge if a person is being wasteful. The sky is not falling and earth is not withering up and dying either so I suggest that every one take a deep breath and enjoy your life.
If religion is your motivation than go ahead......keep in mind Islam talks about "miana ravi" not sacrificing your needs.
i never judged you personally. i judged your argument i.e. since "greenhead" leaders dont follow a certain lifestyle others shouldnt either. i dont sacrifice my needs, however in your initial post you seemed to be boasting about using more than you needed. anyway, far too trivial a topic for me to pick a debate on.
ravage, you have known me (or read my posts) long enough to know that most of my debates here are for fun and needling people. I dont take any of this seriously. Anyway, my argument is not that if leaders are not following a certain lifetsyle you should not either, the argument is that greenhead leaders are hypocrits and dupe people into following a certain lifestyle while they enjoy everything they ask people to leave. That is not a definition of a leader...a leader leads by example, not words.
We recycle plastics, papers/cardboard, soda cans, etc.
I try to save water as well, during showers, brushing teeth, washing dishes etc.
Fraudz & FF - the solar powered lawn lights are such a cool idea!!
I really really wish I could improve on the plastic shopping bags bit. Does it count if you use plastic grocery bags as garbage bags around the house? I think it does, cuz then you’d have to buy separate bags for the garbage which costs more money plus doesn’t help the environment.
i don’t do much either, other than recycle paper/plastics/glass. plus, i don’t have a green thumb and i’m a confirmed plant killer
my mother however is very environment conscious wrt lights, water, recyclable batteries, etc. and she carries cloth/paper bags when she goes grocery shopping to avoid using plastic bags.
