I remember my first period. I was in Kindergarten, my teahcer’s name was Miss Bano and the period was 45 minutes long. It was uncomfortable. I mean to make a 4 years old sit through that without running around is a torture for that kid, I am telling you.

I got mine when i was 11. I was wearing white pants and white shirt. :o and it happened. And i thought i got a biggg disease like (God forbid) TB or something.I told my mama and cried my heart out, cried and cried. She started crying seeing me cry.LOL. Then she told me all about it and taught me stuff Man! it was a nightmare. the 2nd time i got them i was at school and didnt have a pad and i cried again as to what to do about this sudden occurence!

How is this "adult" stuff when this very stuff is occurring to young teenage girls, or in my case, a child, as I was 10.

This "stuff" is actually all "childhood stuff". So why do we hide these topics from children. I can understand not discussing it with a 5 year old, cuz they may not understand it, but gimme a break. A 11 year old bleeds, and you don't explain any of it to her? I had the sense to open up an encyclopedia at a library and read about all my hormone cycles (I ended up majoring in Biology, not surprisingly), but I honestly don't think most 11 year olds, especially some of our jaahil kids, have that kind of maturity.

If you taught your kids about the birds and the bees and what childbirth is all about, and what it means to raise a child, and you teach them WELL, then likely, they're not going to have sex in their teenage years as easily. We supposedly have an edge, right, because we're muslim, and we can teach them the religious angle of it too, but even that's not being done.

I don't know about you, but I'm still a virgin at grand effin age of 28, because I'm afraid of peevin' off the Big Guy upstairs and getting thrown in hell.

Now the drinking, I'm blaming on the massive stupidity that is the Pakistani jaahil mentality that somehow I still can't shake off no matter how Amrikan I become.

You have to lay these subjects out on the table for kids. They're not morons. They're going to figure it out on their own. I went to an encyclopedia, but I could have gone up to the morons in my class and actually believed the nonsense about sex they were spewing out. All rumors ranging from how if you sit on a toilet seat with sperm, you'll get pregnant or to how "oral sex" is actually kissing.

Absolutely incorrect. Not proven by the reality. Sex education is you are taking about and that has not shown to reduce sex in teenagers at all.

Still debatable, that mght have cased some teenagers to practice ‘safe sex’ but still not shown t reduce sexual actvities among teenagers.

Apparenty you did not. And turned out to be a good adult without as yo caim not having enough ‘education’. So why complain?

This so called sex education is blown out of proportion. Parents should give basic ideas to kids to refrain from young age sexual activites and that should be enough. Details need not be discused with children like how babies are made or how to propery use condom etc.

Girls can be and have always been educated on periods by elder women and women when grew older have never had any huge problem even if they could not figure out which orifice it came from.

PCG, parents dont talk about the birds and the bees when girls get a visit from Aunt Flo. Mostly, girls are shocked and moms think its hilarious. Relatives say things like “mubarak hoooooooooooo…bachi bari hogayeeeeeee”…you know…stuff like that.

One of my friends’ family actually threw a party for her!!! She got gold because she was now baligh and that meant wedding bells!
