K_A: Yes divorce is not only allowed in Islam, it is so very easy - just say 'talak', 'talak' talak' three times - but the reality is very different.
In our kind of societies Talak is still frowned upon, also it is a bit one sided, since the process is simple for the man, but highly complicated for the women.
Also a man can remarry upto four times, without bothering to divorce anyone. Whereas, the woman has sever restrictions even to talk to another man.
So perhaps a muslim woman's prospective would reveal the true extent of these restrictions on their lives.(not mens such as K_A)

I know its to facilitate women.
You like next Women go ahead but you have to keep providing the lod one with food shelter etc etc.
Sounds easy when you sit and talk about it but not so easy when you have to do it.
Women are also protected with an other rule if they get divorce, they can't get back to previous husband till they were married and divorced from a different man.
So if you just let your wife go, she have to take a chance on life with a different man.
But again only a woman could tell that.

K_A: You are presuming that the woman is a burden on the man, and that by marrying them you are somehow helping them with food & shelter.
Dude, in todays society more & more women are getting educated and can & do support themselves.
(I am sure this independence of women, bothers a few traditional Pakistani men, since I hear them burning girls schools, and wanting them to remain uneducated)

My engagement is broken once and after that three other girls have kicked me. man..my life sucks big time…
I even showed interest in a divorced girl with a kid and she too declined.

I recently broke me arranged engagement .. cant blame me .. i never met her in me life … did me level best to make it work … ANd in last ten years .. walk out 4 times out of relationships…
