Do you find that when you cook food yourself then you don’t enjoy them as much as you would’ve if they had been cooked by someone else?
If yes, why?

Re: Enjoying your own cooking.......
I enjoy the food I cook. In the early days, I didn't as it took too long. But now I spend less than an hour in the kitchen. Also, it is best not to eat right away after cooking. Cook in the morning, eat it for lunch or cook in the afternoon and eat it for dinner.
I am having a hard time getting used to what she cooks. I am losing patience and one day I am gonna storm the kitchen and take the control back.
Re: Enjoying your own cooking.......
Depends on how well the food is cooked.
funguy bhaijaan, be patient with her. Point out the positive of her cooking.
Re: Enjoying your own cooking.......
AJ jee, a man is not supposed to eat spinach chicken with runny green water settling at the rim of the plate. Palak is supposed to be dried up until oil escapes before turning off the burner. It should have been bhoonafied at the end at high heat. :o
And one should not over cook chicken BREAST cubes in a stir fry. It can get dry very quickly.
Re: Enjoying your own cooking.......
Man, I have eaten pakoray harder than a bone with a smile.
At least she cooked, which shows an effort. Try to cook with her, when she will see you doing things, she will pick up on the little tips here and there.

Bus bhaai jaan, kya bataa-ooN ... yay aajkal ki ladkiaan,,,naa kaaam ki naa kaaj ki, dushman anaaj ki
Re: Enjoying your own cooking.......
Im gonna save the above comments, I think they'll come in handy for a few girls I know....
Re: Enjoying your own cooking.......
FG, her palak is more nutritious then your.. you actually end up burning all the nutritious from your food..
Sheen.. yes it happens, specially when there is some get to gather. I guess while cooking you smell all those spieces and stuff and get obsessed with the smell. When it comes to eating it you then don't get the right taste.
Re: Enjoying your own cooking.......
Or maybe it's because when you've cooked the meal from scratch then you've seen and handled the ingredients in their raw state which can be offputting especially if, for example, you've had to clean a chicken etc etc.
Re: Enjoying your own cooking.......
^
yeah it happens ......though i'm quite immune to all this 'handling' ...i eat it anyway....coz there are no options
but i have this great problem .....i lose appetite when i see too much on the table.....like last time ammi invited us for a dinner when we were in pak .....i was looking forward to it ....but could hardly taste some rice n thats all ......she was sooo upset , as i couldn't even taste all the things!
Re: Enjoying your own cooking.......
Funguy- you are a total control freak even in the kitchen. give her some space! When you love someone you learn to eat runny watery spinach!! End of Story!
Re: Enjoying your own cooking…

Re: Enjoying your own cooking…
though the question wasn’t meant for me …but i can tell you how my hubby responded…
i’m not a very good cook …some dishes just weren’t my field …or i thought so in the beginning …n then there were some which i loved cooking again n again…
my hubby is painfully straightforward… he is quite generous in complimenting when he likes …n criticises with a passion when he doesn’t like…n now my trial n error has brought me to the point where he misses my cooking whenever he’s away (which he is , mostly)
:)…so don’t be afraid …you’ll do alright just don’t give up!
Re: Enjoying your own cooking.......
I don't criticize her right away, even when she puts me on the spot, I find something good about the food. The time when the 'left overs' make it to the table, I do give my honest opinion. We also cook together sometimes but now a days she cooks with my Mom, which has its ups and downs.
Re: Enjoying your own cooking…
now thats exactly how my mr. is, so i think he won’t let me go so easily, but seriously enough, i am trying to learn basics at least, and did i mention i order cook books online rather than clothes/shoes sighhh
Afia baji, how about if you, Qrius, and all sughar bajis can start a thread about basics for us new cooks and share your recipes n tips/tricks of kitchen, which i dunno any
i would love to improve but i feel like i wasnt born to cook since only something turns out good that is like once in a blue moon!
