Aqib Javed was also one of the very best bowlers. If it wasn't for Wasim/Waqar, he probably would have taken more wickets.

Aaqib was not penetrative enough or a wicket-taking bowler in tests. possessed a great deal of skill and guile but lacked serious pace to trouble good batsmen in tests

A good support bowler nevertheless

Aaqib was good but lacked the pace of Waqar and Wasim he was more of a bowler who use to contain runs

He was not a containing bowler but a wicket taking bowler but he came during he Imran, Wasim, Waqar era that is why he was not prominent. Who can forget his hattrick against the Indians in Sharjah. A great bowler.

He only played 22 tests and took 54 wickets.

54 test wickets in 22 tests is an average return for a main bowler. 75-80 wickets is more like. It is probably ok for a bowling all-rounder

I know it was Aaqib's misfortune that he played in a team boasting the two W's but as clever a bowler he was in the ODIs, I do not think he was penetrative enough in tests.
