I have been genuinely surprised at the extent of English whingeing after their thoroughly deserved defeat by Pakistan. Although to be fair, the whining has come from the media, rather than the players who to their credit refused to accept any excuses and accepted that Pakistan were better on the day.
But both the tv coverage and press reports the following day make for shameful reading from an English point of view. It seems that England can accept defeat from everyone except Pakistan. It’s almost embarassing to observe.
Xtreme the tabloid journalists are the lowest form of writers on the planet and their goal is to appeal to the xenophobe Yob.
the do that with pretty much all sports
Whats there to be surprised about this kind of behavior ? They have always been bad losers. Even the Australians are in the same category -- they dont accept defeat with grace.
Fraudia,
if it was just the tabloids it wouldn't be a big deal. After all, it's about shifting copies in their case and xenophobia sells. But read today's Times and Telegraph and it's the same stuff couched in slightly better language. There are certainly honourable exceptions like the always excellent Simon Barnes, but the majority let themselves down badly.
Also, the TV coverage was pathetic. Fine if you want to keep focusing on close ups of Waqar with the ball, but why not do the same with Gough?
Same goes with the sudden urge to check every wicket taken by a Pakistani with the need to quickly check if it was a no-ball. The actual public watched a great game and that's what should have been focused on rather than the constant belly-aching by Botham and Willis.
I am glad that you accepted that English moan a lot

I completely agree with you. It is not just restricted to the tabloids, or main newspapers but even the BBC news and other channels they are all moaning about the same thing.
I don’t think we desis moan as much as they do. If our team didn’t perform well then instead of complaining about the rules we rather like to stone our captain’s home.
or egg our players when they come back.. indians usually throw bottles and stuff..
I think our media is responsible for this we never defend our players or try and answer the propoganda by the press of other countries they are quite happy to point fingers at their own players. I don't know why we always think that we are the only bad people around we always blamme our players no matter wat the international media defenetly take advantage of that.
Pakistanis are sore loosers too.
I went to watch the last days play of the first test, which of course Pakistan lost.
I went with my dad and brother, paying a total of £90 to watch our heroes play cricket.
At the end of the game, we ran on to the pitch and I pushed my way to the front and was able to see the players on the balcony clearly. But, who did I see?? Just Waqar Younis, the rest of the team refused to come out on the balcony.
They ruined it for me and for all the Pakistani supporters who had also come to see their heroes. Why couldn't they have made an appearance on the balcony of their changing room? It's a game, one team wins one will lose.
For us its the people who whine when our team loses a match like someone above instead of players or the news media. Its completely opposite for the other teams.
Thank you, come again

is that comment directed at me...?
I didn't watch the match until the end but I heard on Sky Sports news this morning that there was a lot of hangama and chaos towards the end and that they're having some sort of emergency meeting?
