An Urdu newspaper says that ISAF is ready to pay special attention towards stopping militants’ incursion into Pakistani areas if Pakistan launches operation in North Waziristan.
^ with reference to cross-border attacks of militants from Afghanistan into Pakistani areas.
KABUL: General John Allen, commander Isaf (International Security Assistance Force) in Afghanistan, has said that if the Pakistan Army launched an operation in North Waziristan Agency, “we are prepared to pay extra attention” to any spill over that may occur because of the operation.
^ against the background of operation in South Waziristan in October 2009 when the Isaf vacated its posts on Afghan border and allowed TTP miscreants to flee to safety in Afghanistan.
I dont believe them, if Pakistan launches any operation there all guns will start blazing towards Pakistan and the US will pack up and leave with a victory feather in their cap. Later they might use the instability of Pakistan as an excuse to attack Pakistan directly (to secure Pakistan and its nuclear weapons like good allies).
If the militants of Swat, Mohmand and Dir can find safe havens in Eastern Afghanistan (Nuristan and Kunar), then we should keep in mind that on both sides of North Waziristan are the Wazirs who are the same people and hence they will easily find safe havens across the borders.

^ True. ISAF isn't capable of containing the spillover due to these cross-border tribal bondings and treacherous terrain. Logistically speaking, Pakistan may not be able to carry out a successful operation in North Waziristan as the army is already overstretched. And lastly, it simply does not make sense to use military might to solve every single problem on earth. After a decade in Afghanistan, the US should know it better.
^ US needs to show something back home, there's nothing tangible and for that they are making Pakistan a scape goat. On the one side they claim its the Haqqani Network's 2-3000 fighters who are creating problems for them (if thats the case cant they secure Afghanistan's areas bordering North Waziristan?), on the other side if you read news items coming out of Afghanistan almost all of Eastern Afghanistan is in talebans control , and even Helmand and Kandahar are not fully under control. In the North of the country there are fiefdoms under control of Hazaras, Tajiks and Uzbeks warlords. Putting the blame on Pakistan squarely is not only unfair, but its shying away from reality. By pursuing the policies that the Americans have been during the past 10 years, I don't know whether they will stabilize Afghanistan or not but they will surely destabilize Pakistan as a result (which they already have done to some extent).
