My best friends husband died and will be cremated. Is there any restriction on me going to the crematorium?

you are right, i dont see that also, as to why you can't go to attend this final ritual according to their belief.
in the end, all who lose their loved ones and the friends of those who lose people, can pray for the departed soul.
Islam wont stop you from paying respect to a dead person no matter what her/his faith is/was.
if anything, it will make a good point that you care for your friend and that you are there for her in this hard time.
normally, caucasians are christians for the most part. and they have wakes and then the burial.
in case of a cremation ceremony that is not hindu in its ritualistic performance, ask other people from that community who practice it, as to how you can best adjust to the sequence of rituals at this particular cremation of your friend's husband.
