Re: English Cricket Crises : Pietersen resigns, Moores sacked, Strauss named captain
So with Strauss as interim captain for the time being (should that happen). Who for the full time job?
There's not many leaders in the current squad.

phew we are not alone in dramay baazi :D
Now atleast we can look ECB in the eye and say "ab aap kya bolein ge, koi mon hai aapka bolnay wala"
I found Nasser Hussain's comments the funniest
"You (KP) can't just sit on safari in South Africa and issue ultimatums*"*
"You have a star player in KP - and make no mistake this guy is world-class - but do you have your best player as captain? I don't think so, Brian Lara, Boycott, Ian Botham - don't put them anywhere near the captaincy; keep them as your star player*"*
David Bumble Lloyd
"I understand the ECB offered Peter Moores, a two-year extension to his contract before Christmas. They obviously felt he was the right man to take England forward. Pietersen obviously felt he was not being backed and that's why he resigned*"*
Alec Stewart
This has been a long time coming it seems. KP had clashed with Peter Moores before he took over the captaincy 5 months ago. The pair had a difficult relationship chiefly because Pietersen questioned Moores' ability as a top-class coach. Moores had a modest playing career and this along with Pietersen's lack of respect for his tactical and technical know-how saw the pair fall out. The final straw came when Moores and the selectors rejected KP's request for Michael Vaughan to be recalled to the Test squad for the tour of WI.
What damage has been done?
That all depends on Pietersen's reaction. If he can integrate back into the rank and file and concentrate on his batting (England rely heavily on his batting currently) things should be okay. However he may feel like he has had a lack of support from some team-mates and may not fade quietly into the back-ground.
And contrary to earlier reports KP resigned as England skipper last night (and not previously) and coach Moores was sacked soon afterwards by the ECB. So it seems the ECB was more sympathetic towards KP in this row but Pietersen felt it was extremely difficult for him to continue in his position in light of unfortunate media stories that had appeared.

^ KP was told that either he resigns or he will be sacked, he chose to resign.

I am sure you know how these "resigns" work. He would have no problem staying coz ECB was firing Moore anyway but I am sure ECB gave him the indication on things to come, what used to be in Pakistan as:
"pitoo gaay ya thaneeey jana hai?" :)

Yup that is very plausible. KP though cannot be dropped from the side because he is England's best batsman. But in it he is bound to create an ackward dressing room.
It's all very well saying that won't matter and that the players are paid to win matches, not to be friends. But the reality is not that simple :)
Pietersen will sit there knowing that half, if not more of his teammates did not want him as captain. That's gotta hurt no matter how brash or confident he appears
The problem Strauss has is his one-day form (cf. Malik in tests). He has been frozen out of ODIs for almost two years. You need a guy that is good enough to play all three dimensions (Test, ODI, T20) of the game. Every other captain playing for their country plays in all three. For the WI tour it may not matter but for the much tougher assignment against the Aussies, his one-day form could become an issue esp. if he performs poorly against the Windies
I read this in the London Sport paper,
"The ego landed and left in no time, while coach Peter is no Moores"
Haha oh man that’s hilarious stuff ![]()
And i thought only PCB and other Asian Boards + Players were able to perform this way
Nice to see we r not aloe ![]()
