It might be making a mountain out of a tiny molehill but I suspect this might not go away without more questions being asked. The spotlight is again on Mike Procter, the match referee, and we wait to see if he actually does something proactive to nip this in the bud, as opposed to his laissez faire approach which failed so spectacularly at The Oval.

Akhtar in ball-tampering storm (storm created by media as usual)
SHOAIB AKHTAR was caught in a fresh ball-tampering storm at the third NatWest Series clash.
The Pakistan fast bowler was caught on TV cameras appearing to gouge the ball with his thumbnail.
Sky’s pictures were inconclusive because Akhtar’s fingers masked what he was doing.
But former England skipper Nasser Hussain branded the player “stupid” for even getting caught in such a situation, just two weeks after the Oval ball-tampering row.
The clips, shown between innings at the Rose Bowl, overshadowed events on the pitch, where England set the tourists 272 to win.
