Re: England v India - 4th Test
This is breaking news. India finally takes a catch.
In ESPN cricket there was comments from one Arya Yuyutsu. I have never heard that last name among contemporaries. Yuyutsu was the Kaurava who didn't fight. He was born to off another woman (not Gandhari)..was tickled to see the name alive today.
Re: England v India - 4th Test
97.4
Aaron to Broad, SIX, even better this time, and squarer. Short again from Aaron, and Broad swivelled on his front foot. There were two fielders on the deep, but he comfortably cleared both of them
97.3
Aaron to Broad, SIX, short from Aaron, no pace on it, Broad helps it on its way for six over deep square leg. Broad's come out with positive intent after lunch
Re: England v India - 4th Test
Eng 338/8
Re: England v India - 4th Test
Some of the newer helmets have an extra grille on the visor. Looked like Broad's didn't. He is smiling, which is a good sign. He's gone off the field, though, and Anderson's come in. Guess England would want to get Broad fit for the bowling that's to follow
97.5
Aaron to Broad, no run, short again, quicker, 141.8kph, and it's hit him! It's lodged in the helmet. Went for the pull and missed it. It's gone in between the grille and the peak of the helmet. He's bleeding, and the physio's running out. That looks nasty. Let's hope he's okay. Was quicker from Aaron and it came on to him a lot quicker as he played the pull shot. Beat him for pace. Got a bit of the edge on the way and smashed into the bridge of the nose
SCJ Broad retired hurt 12 (6b 0x4 2x6) SR: 200.00
Re: England v India - 4th Test
bad news for England...Broad took 6 wickets in the last innings. let's see if he is able to bowl in India's second innings.
Re: England v India - 4th Test
England lead by 215 runs
d of the innings, because it doesn't look like Stuart Broad will be walking out to bat. England have done well to get a lead of 215, and it's going to be a challenging session for India. From India's perspective, the fast bowlers bowled quite well in patches. Nice to see Aaron bowl quick and Pankaj finally get some wickets.
Re: England v India - 4th Test
India bundled out for 161 runs in the second innings, lost 9 wickets in one session. England thrashed and humiliated them by an innings and 54 runs. proves one thing:
** Indian team are just flat track bullies. 10 English players smashed them in no time today.
Re: England v India - 4th Test
Kohli is a flat track and ODI bully I repeat this again
Re: England v India - 4th Test
what a shameful defeat...they collapsed in both innings like 'house of cards'....i am gonna just not watch cricket until the world cup! :( :D
Re: England v India - 4th Test
Well deserved win. Happy to see Moeen Ali and Jordan among the wickets.
1st wicket Murali Vijay was a very very close LBW. Given out
2nd wicket Gambhir. Feathered the glove. Given out.
3rd wicket Pujara clearly not out. Given out.
That was the ball game.
Gambhir I recall either runs himself out or runs out his partner. When Anderson bowled to Vijay Gambhir refused an easy single. Vijay had to turn back after being 40 pct down the wicket. I guess Gambhir didn't want to face Anderson . Pretty selfish. Vijay faced 90 pct of Anderson deliveries in 1st spell.
Ashwin ran Bhuvaneswar out. He had sight of the ball. And should not have gone for 2nd.
Dhoni muffed a run out. And I think in 1st inning or was it previous test didn't go for a catch which fell between him and 1st slip.
What is Jadeja doing in the team?
Ashwin was clearly the best indian batsman in this Test. 40 and 45 not out. Looked very comfortable.
Cry me a river.
Re: England v India - 4th Test
To be fair Pujara was out LBW to Ali last ball before Tea. And not given out.
Re: England v India - 4th Test
England’s best bowler v India’s best batsman. Anderson v Kohli. 7 for 4 in 30 balls in this series. #EngVsIndia 4th Test;

0 Number of times that England have lost a Test after securing a 200-plus run lead at the end of the first innings. England have been in this situation on 166 occasions, and never lost a single one of those Tests, winning 129 and drawing 37.
13 Number of times that India have lost a Test inside three days. Five of these instances have been in England (and six in all against them), with the last of those coming at Edgbaston in 1967. Most recently, India capitulated inside three days against Australia in Perth, in 2012.
**195.1 **The number of overs bowled in this match, which is the fewest in an India-England Test that has produced a result. India batted only 89.4 overs in this Test, which is the second lowest number of overs in a Test against England. The fewest number of overs played by India in a Test against England is 58.1, also at Old Trafford.
5 Number of times that the seventh wicket has posted 100-plus runs during an Old Trafford Test. Jos Buttler and Joe Root added 134 runs today. The last time that the seventh-wicket pair added 100-plus runs at Old Trafford was in 1990, when Manoj Prabhakar and Sachin Tendulkar were involved in an unbroken 160-run stand - a record that still stands.
**416 **Number of deliveries sent down by Pankaj Singh before he picked up his first wicket, in his 70th over. Till that point, Pankaj had conceded 274 runs and was in the record books as the bowler to have conceded the second highest number of runs in a wicketless career. Pankaj, however, was a long way from the record for the most balls bowled before picking up a wicket. India’s AG Kripal Singh bowled 108.3 overs before picking up his first Test wicket.
22.25 Cheteshwar Pujara’s Test batting average in 2014. As of December 2013, his average was 66.25. Pujara has scored six hundreds and five fifties in his Test career, but has hit only one half-century this year.
7-4 James Anderson’s figures against Virat Kohli in the current series. Kohli did not score a single run off Anderson in three of the six innings he faced him. Overall, Anderson has dismissed Kohli five times and only conceded 30 runs from ten innings.
66-6 India faced the ignominy of seeing the number of the devil twice on the scoreboard during the Old Trafford Test, which was the fourth time that they had been six down for a score of 66 or less in both innings of a Test, including once previously at Old Trafford itself. The last instance of this happening was against West Indies in 1983.
19 Number of wickets taken by Moeen Ali in this series, which is the second highest by an England spinneragainst India in a home series. The record is held by Ray Illingworth who took 20 wickets against India in 1967. Moeen’s 19 scalps is also the fourth highest that any spinner has taken in series against India outside the subcontinent.
0 Number of 50-plus partnerships that the Indian openers have posted during this tour. There have been six previous tours to England where the Indian openers have failed to reach fifty even once. During India’s successful tour in 2007, the openers averaged 53.7, but only 19.5 during the disastrous 2011 tour.
