England V Australia - 2nd Test -- Australia wins last session thriller by 6 wickets!

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

If your recognised batsmen can't save you the bit and pieces player won't and he didn't, Fletcher should have realised that and played Panesar.

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

8 from 27 balls. This is hilarious, perfect example of how to lose a match. :hehe:

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

Goooooo Aussies. Greeat day for me the two A's cleared, Aussies win, only thing missing was Pak win.

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

Aussies win. Unbelievable. :k:

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

what a shot by Hussey 4 runs and a single.
Australia 2-0 up in the series

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

English players look devastated. Back to earth with a thud.

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

england dont deserve to be no 2 ..pakistan would have beaten them comfortably if asif and shoaib were playing in that series.

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

England's defeat makes their 551-6d in the first innings the highest-ever first innings total by a losing team in a test match.

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

How on earth you go in final day to secure a draw when you have a lead and 9 wickets in hand? Baffling.....

England are missing Simon Jones big time. Harmison is not in form either. Only flintoff and Hoggard ever look like taking wickets. They SHOULD have played panesar and Mahmood instead of Giles and And-run-son..

By losing this match, England have taken away one hand from the ashes. Lets see how they hold onto it if they can.

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

5-0 spanking, thats all I am hoping for. Hopefully that should be good enough for English team, media and fans to realize that international cricket is not just about 2005 Ashes.

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

aussie players were very excited and celebrated this win big time....ponting rates this as the best test that he has ever played in...warnie shares similar thoughts (as per the interviews)

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

This was Ponting’s 24th win in his 32nd test as captain (lost 3, drawn 5), an amazing record. Waugh’ record could be his in two-three years

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

Atlast English team has learnt something from Indian team :naraz:

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

I think, the present Australian team can now be termed as the best cricket team ever in the history of cricket.

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

^ That's what people used to say for the WI team of the 80's.

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

Imran Khan rates the Windies side of the 70s and 80s as better than the present Australian team. While the current Australian team is ruthless and clinical in its execution that West Indies side used to terrorise teams around the world with their pace battery plus they had some of the most destructive batters in the history of the game Greenidge, Lloyd and King Viv. Whats more they achieved those successes without having any world class spinner in their side. I remember Viv playing Imran Khan (he was pretty quick then) on the front foot in the early to mid-eighties and driving his inswinging yorkers with ease

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

^West Indian side of the 70s and the 80s definitely had a more lethal bowling line up than this australian side, but i think batting wise this australian team is better. Its interesting that west indies was actually the last team to beat Australia in Australia in a test series way back in 1992.

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

West Indies batting line up, Fredericks, Greenidge, Kallicharan, Richards, Gomes, Lloyd etc was far far superior to this Australian batting line up.

Re: England V Australia - 2nd Test match

England lost this match rather than aussies winning it. Yes they bowled really well and took the oppurtunity presented to them BUT another 50 runs and this match would have been a draw.
