*****v to Pietersen, SIX, England blaze to the lead! Pietersen is making a mess of *****v's figures, down the track and lofts him really high over long-on
Herath to Pietersen, OUT, Appeal for an lbw and he's given him! KP **reviews** that, he looks in trouble, flatter delivery and KP tries to paddle that in front of his stumps, the ball goes past the glove and hits him flush in front of middle, Rauf's decision was right in the end
**KP Pietersen lbw b Herath 151 (165b 16x4 6x6) SR: 91.51 **
Jayawardene apart, Sri Lankan batting has been poor in the two tests. Although Herath played his part (12 wickets in the match) in the first test, it was Jaya's 180 that was the real difference between the two sides. Sanga's form in particular must be a concern for them. He has had a bit of a lean patch of late
Sri Lanka 157/4 effectively minus 28/4 are up against it unless Jaya can play another special knock. Hence first innings batting is so crucial in a test, 400+/- guarantees you safety 80% of the time. 275 was simply not good enough
Plus it is the wrong time of the year (too hot and humid) to be playing cricket in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka (218/6), effectively 33/6 need a miracle now to deny England victory in this test. So much depends on how Mahela and Mathews negotiate the first session tomorrow morning. The tail will not last long for sure (it is as bad as ours!)
