England took the field wearing black armbands on day two of the second Test against Pakistan as a mark of respect for a supporter who has died of a suspected heart attack.
Forty-five-year-old Robert Padmore, from Peterborough, had been a long-standing follower of England on overseas tours and was in Pakistan to watch his country again in their three-match series when he was suddenly taken ill at his Sandal Bar hotel in Faisalabad last night.
An England team spokesman said: βI can confirm that an English fan has died from a heart attack.β
The Pakistan Cricket Board subsequently announced they are to dedicate a plaque in memory of Mr Padmore at the Sandal Bar hotel. The inscription will read: βIn memory of Robert Padmore, a dedicated supporter of the England Cricket Team who tragically died of a heart attack on 20th November, 2005 during the Second Test between Pakistan and England at Faisalabad.β
