Re: England and Pakistan Tour going to be affected?

:insha: every thing will be fine .

Re: England and Pakistan Tour going to be affected?

At this stage I don't see any reason why the tour would get cancelled.

Re: England and Pakistan Tour going to be affected?

^^^ ok but your from birme right?
and you must know how freaking cocky the england players have got with the ashes and all.
And before they started going on about they didn't want to go coz of the london bombings so basically there finding any excuse not to go especially now they won against Australia and they dont want to risk losing against Pakitan innit. if you get me?

Re: England and Pakistan Tour going to be affected?

The tour starts in 3 weeks, this is disaster equivalent of catastrophic proportions. The tour will definitely be effected. It will take months and probably years to clean up the mess. With a national tragedy like this, I doubt players would be in the right mind going into a series.

Re: England and Pakistan Tour going to be affected?

i dreaded some one saying that bt itz true:(

Re: England and Pakistan Tour going to be affected?

On the other hand maybe we could persuade the English or Indian team to play some extra ODI matches to raise money for the earthquake victims. Maybe a tri nation series with England, Pakistan and India.

Re: England and Pakistan Tour going to be affected?

excellent idea, but i doubt, it will ever happen! Afridi, Shoaib, and inzamam are in australia, they should take the initiative to talk 2 there peers and ask them for some donation or some help! i wish i could contact them and tell them, if they havent done so already! And i also agree that the mental and emotional burden will be heavy on the players!

Re: England and Pakistan Tour going to be affected?

Excellent idea ehsan, this tour should NOT be cancelled at all. It's true that players will not be in right mind but it can still bring cheers to lots of people, it can help Pakistan financially plus the extra ODI tris series (involving India and England) could be arranged to help victims. Pak players can also donate their salaries to victims as well.

Cancelling this tour will NOT be beneficial in any way.

Re: England and Pakistan Tour going to be affected?

I doubt if India is available to play ODI series since they have a 7 ODI series against Sri Lanka in just 1 month.

Re: England and Pakistan Tour going to be affected?

I think they have to play 7 against Sri lanka and another 5 or 7 against South Africa as well.

England’s tour of Pakistan is still on despite Saturday’s earthquake which left tens of thousands dead.

The England board (ECB) has been liaising with its Pakistan counterparts (PCB) as well as the two governments over the weekend. “We send our condolences to the Pakistani people who have been affected by the earthquake,” Colin Gibson, the ECB’s communications director, told the BBC. “At this stage there is no indication the tour is in any doubt or the tour schedule affected in any way.”

“At this stage the tour is on,” Pakistan daily Dawn quoted Asad Mustafa, the PCB’s logistics manager as saying. “We are hopeful that, God willing, everything on the tour front will be sorted out by the time England land in Rawalpindi.”

England are due to arrive in Pakistan on 26 October and their first match takes place at Rawalpindi on October 31, an area within the earthquake zone. The final two ODIs, on December 19 and 21, are also scheduled to take place there.

“Cricket is followed by everyone in Pakistan and it will get their minds off this tragedy,” Rameez Raja, a former chief executive of the Pakistan Cricket Board told the BBC. “Cricket can be a healer.”

Re: England and Pakistan Tour going to be affected?

^^^ yeh i read this:D
which is good
yeh eshan i was thinking that too maybe take people's minds off things and help the cause similar to what they did with the tusnami innit:D

Re: England and Pakistan Tour going to be affected?

Have a few questions in mind.

  1. Have the stadiums and grounds not been affected by the earthquake?

  2. Tens of thousands of people have died in this tragedy and hundreds of thousands homeless. A loss which will take years to overcome mentally physically and financially. So should we really expect people to show up in numbers and cheer their team on less than 1 month into the earthquakes? Rameez Raja hopes this series will help people forget about the tragedy but for some reason im not so optimistic.

  3. Should Karachi be considered again as a venue?

And finally a few suggestions.

  1. If the matches do go on, the ticket should be made free so that as many people can show up as possible. If they decide to charge money, all proceeds should go to the disaster relief fund.

  2. Arrange a quickie 20/20 fundraising match. Or a 2 on 2 sort.. Razzak/Afridi against Flintoff/Pieterson? :D

Sincerely,
Captain Lota

Re: England and Pakistan Tour going to be affected?

1, I don’t know but i wouldn’t think so as why would Rameez Raja say that then?

2, True but it also shows that Pakistan are still strong and will go on and also take people’s minds off things is that makes sense?

3, Erm i think they should try discuss it will Ebgland as Rawal Pindi seems the most difficult venue right now so if they could do a exchange might be better.

About your suggestions

1, I wouldn’t say free but definatly profits going towards the disaster.

2, Maybe but i don’t think that should be played in Pakistan then if that makes sense at least with the tour they have at least a month but when you say quickly meaning round 2 - 3 weeks which i not to sure about.

**Sorry for te essay:blush: :bukbuk: **

Re: England and Pakistan Tour going to be affected?

Easy for us to say Ms Nabiha, from the warmth and comfort of our homes.

Ask someone who just lost his/her house as well as father mother husband wife and kids and is now living in open grounds under freezing rain and hail. All in a matter of minutes. He/she might not really be that keen on upholding Pakistan’s ‘strong’ image.

Sincerely,
Captain Lota
